My aim is to support clients to make lasting changes in their lives, reduce psychological distress and improve daily functioning. My twenty-plus years of practice have given me a broad experience, working with a wide range of clients.
Every client is an individual and each initial meeting is spent finding out about that individual - I want to know what brings you to therapy now, what are your goals, what does life look like, what are your successes, difficulties, needs and what has been the story of your life so far?
We use this to form a shared understanding and to plan for working together therapeutically.
I am an HCPC registered Consultant Clinical Psychologist and an accredited EMDR Consultant. I have a particular interest in working with psychological trauma and with adjustment and acceptance around health conditions. As well as EMDR, I integrate cognitive behavioural, compassion focused and acceptance and commitment therapies into my approach.
I cover South Cumbria and surrounding areas from my clinic room in central Kendal. I also offer online appointments for those further afield or unable to travel.
All work starts with an initial meeting to begin to get to know each other, gain an understanding of your history and needs, and form a plan for working together.
