Hi I'm Lauren and I'm a fully qualified Play Therapist. Play is a child's natural language: it speaks the worries and feelings too confusing for words. Where adults may speak about their worries and problems, children can express themselves through play long before they can articulate thoughts and feelings through the complexities of language. Often they do not know the words to describe their internal world but are ready to share it with opportunities through play and creative arts. Play builds trust, tells stories and takes us on brave adventures to wonderful places of safety, hope and happiness.
My prior experience in teaching and atypical development helps me to see the neuroscience behind the processes at work when children bravely face their barriers and work towards being happier and healthier, building resilience and self-worth to cope with the challenges they face in their daily lives.
It is often the strength of the therapeutic relationship which defines the progress a child makes on their journey in therapy. Therefore I create a safe and friendly environment in which each child feels accepted and understood. I take time to build a trusting and honest relationship with parents too.
