I am a psychodynamic psychotherapist, specialising in work with infants, children and young people up to the age of 25; often alongside their parents or family. I work with a wide range of difficulties, offering evidence-based treatments through parent-child work, individual sessions, and parent-led work to improve emotional resilience, daily functioning, relationships, confidence and happiness. I work by attuning to individual needs, utilising play, exploration, and talk, at your pace to develop a shared understanding and approach to long-term improvement on personal goals through weekly 50 minute sessions, in Exeter.
Following an initial consultation, I offer a brief assessment phase to ensure the way I work can be helpful to you. I work with the 'here and now', but also make links to earlier experiences and personal history, helping to develop a sense of self, recognising strengths and challenges, identifying what can change and how you can achieve this.
People often begin therapy when feeling uncertain about what is going on within them, and why they feel or behave in the ways they do. You may have clearer ideas about experiences that have impacted in particular ways. I can help you make sense of, and build your capacities, to manage what you and/ or your child bring.
