Hello, I’m Lara and welcome to my page. I’m a neurodiversity-informed counsellor, offering short term solution focused therapy and long term interpersonal and relational therapy. I understand how difficult it is choosing the right therapist to meet your needs, so my aim is to offer the right counselling conditions for you to explore your thoughts, feelings and goals. Sometimes we become stuck, feel isolated, struggle with life or get caught in a shame cycle. I will always strive to make you feel at ease and listened to without judgment. The work is collaborative and I draw from humanistic approaches and cognitive behavioural therapy
As a Humanistic Therapist, my beliefs are that we are all unique individuals with the right to free will. Although I may use other tools and techniques such as CBT and Solution- Focused Therapy when looking at coping strategies and goal setting, I still hold my humanistic values such as acceptance, openness, equality and compassion.
As a young person, I experienced many years of crippling anxiety. I had the belief that there was something fundamentally wrong with me and that life would never change. I can honestly say that it doesn’t have to be this way. There is hope and trauma is healable. I felt a calling to train as a counsellor after overcoming turmoil in my own life.
