Do you feel you need someone to talk to? Someone to offload to and share the burden of what you are going through. Maybe it's a specific issue that you'd like to work towards resolving. If this sounds like you please don't wait any longer.

Do you feel overwhelmed, emotionally drained, or like you’ve spent years trying to keep up—only to feel like you’re falling short? Perhaps you’ve recently been diagnosed with ADHD, or you’re beginning to wonder if it might explain why things have always felt harder than they “should.” You may have spent years masking, overcompensating, or pushing yourself to burnout, while struggling with intense emotions, anxiety, or self-doubt. You’re not alone—and there is nothing “wrong” with you. Hi, I’m Cheryl, a psychotherapist with ADHD.

I offer 60 or 90 minute sessions and try to be as flexible as possible, offering weekday, evening and weekend slots. Sessions can be at the length and frequency that suits the individual's needs and requirements. I think for most of us, life has a tendency to become overwhelming from time to time and we can feel like the support we have around us just isn't enough. Try not to compare your struggles with others - it's important you acknowledge that your difficulties are relative to you and you alone. But if you're reading this I would hope you are already beginning to realise, .you are worth more than the way you currently feel.

I believe that the most important thing is the counselling relationship and strive to provide a safe environment in which you can be yourself and explore what is going on for you.

I am an experienced accredited therapist, supervisor and clinical lead (NHS); qualified to work therapeutically with children, adults and couples. I have a real interest in working with family relationships. Growing up can sometimes feel as if it needs to be navigated rather than enjoyed, both for the child/young person and for the parents. I truly appreciate the struggles (and joys) of life with children and the stresses it can place on family relationships. I work in a neuroaffirming and trauma focussed way and strive to include the differences that arrive in the therapy room. I want my clients to come as they are.

Are you tired of constantly thinking about food, exercise or losing weight? You’re “good” for a few weeks, only to self-sabotage and beat yourself up after another binge. Perhaps food has always been the go to – whether you’re happy, stressed, or frustrated. Or perhaps exercise is the problem - you struggle to stick to a routine, or worry it's becoming obsessive. You may dislike your body, and feel a failure for letting yourself go. If these resonate, you’re not alone. It’s easy to get stuck in these negative cycles, but with the right support it's possible for things to change.

Support, warmth, understanding and acceptance, together with a professional service, this is what I base my counselling practice on. Life can sometimes feel overwhelming, frustrating, unfair...even cruel, throwing so many unexpected hurdles in our way. Struggling can be a lonely, isolating place and sometimes we need more than just talking with family or friends. I offer a calm, confidential, non-judgemental space to truly be heard and listened to in which you can explore your struggles or confusions and, hopefully, enable you to recover your own perspective and clarity surrounding whatever difficulties are impacting your life.

Welcome. With a background in both Psychology & Psychotherapy I combine this training with lived experience to offer you empathy & validation, as well as support for you to change and grow. I integrate psychological, psychodynamic, DBT, CBT, sleep & somatic approaches to tailor therapy to your needs. When we get things stabilised together, felt-safety established in your brain-body system, and more constructive coping strategies brought in, people who work with me tend to have increased self-awareness, self-esteem and self-care tools, as well as less self-criticism and improved psychological, physical & social health & wellbeing.

Sometimes the difficulties you have in the present are influenced by how things have been for you in the past. How you have coped with the tough experiences, the beliefs you have developed about yourself and the world, your habitual responses. You want to improve things for yourself but you can't see a way through. Maybe you have tried other ways of getting better, maybe with some success, but the underlying problems just turn up in different ways. You are here because you know that you are not out of options. Psychotherapy has helped many people like you. And with me, you are in a safe pair of hands. EMDR is an option for you too.

Hiya, I’m Lennie. I work with teenagers, young adults, and the grown-ups they’ve become. The ones who never quite fit the mould and are tired of pretending they do. I help teens carve out their identity in a world full of labels while supporting the parents and professionals navigating the chaos with them. Life with the people you care about should be something you enjoy, not just survive. Let’s face it, keeping your head down and pretending everything’s fine won’t get you anywhere. Together, we’ll tackle what you’ve been avoiding, rewrite the rules to suit you, rebuild your confidence, and create a life that finally fits.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

Counsellors and Psychotherapists listed in the directory are members of the main professional associations, mainly the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). Most Psychologists in the directory are accredited members of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and/or are registered in the Health and Care Professions Council (HPCP).

Providers whose professional membership or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Given that professional memberships are not a statutory requirement for psychotherapists and counsellors in the UK, certain qualified professionals or organisations may choose not to maintain such memberships despite possessing the necessary qualifications. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?

Counsellors, psychotherapists and psychologists can all provide counselling or talking therapy and have credentials and experience that enable them to do so in the UK. Psychologists have earned a degree in psychology and many are members of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and have completed a postgraduate qualification in a specialism. Counsellors and Psychotherapists are not required to have a psychology degree, but to belong to a professional organisation such as the BACP or UKCP, they are required to have completed a training course as well as clinical and supervision hours.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the UK could be between £30 - £60 when seeing a counsellor and £60 - £150 and up when seeing a clinical psychologist. If you have private insurance, your plan may cover some if not all of your sessions. You should contact your insurance provider to determine if they provide coverage for therapy sessions and to determine what, if any, requirements they might have in order for your sessions to be covered, such as a referral from your GP or medical specialist.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

If you are struggling to access therapy due to budget constraints, you could also consider public funded mental health services. The NHS Talking therapies programme offers free of charge counselling for common mental health problems like anxiety and depression. The service is available to anyone registered with a GP, though you do not necessarily need to be referred by your GP and can refer yourself directly to a Talking therapies service. The service will provide different solutions, including group and individual therapy, for a limited number of sessions which are generally up to six.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Therapists who are part of a professional organisation such as the BACP, the UKCP, or BPS are bound by an ethical framework that requires them to uphold a confidentiality agreement. Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship and only under specific circumstances, such as when there has been participation in a criminal act or act of terror, or if there is potential or known harm to the client or others, will a therapist be obligated to break the agreement. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed during the initial consultation.
