Hi I'm Michelle Richards, Creative arts Therapist /Drama Therapist. I provide services for people who would like to learn effective and creative ways to process their emotions. Emotions are excellent navigators however we are rarely taught how to use them and experience their value. Instead we have been trained to bury them and we allow them to become obstacles. Through private one to one sessions, group workshops or via online Programmes I will assist you to learn important themes and practical techniques which will enhance your Emotional Empowerment and your ability to relate to others.

I offer a professional yet down to earth relationship. Having somewhere confidential to discuss things with someone who is unconnected to your life can help give you space to find your way again. Sessions are offered weekly or fortnightly, usually in an open ended way until you're feeling ready to stop. Come for a few sessions, a few months or come longer term. People are now learning how to use therapy over time, re-accessing support at times when it is needed most with someone who they trust to know them and their life well.

One thing is certain, we all live lives of colour, of ups and downs, experiencing both the dark and the light, stagnation and change, moving a few steps forward while at times feeling pulled back. There are times we can pull through, and times we can't. We look inside ourselves for meaning, look to family or friends for support and answers. But there are times when maybe that isn't quite enough. When our ways of coping fall short or fail us. Overwhelm or stuckness win over, anxiety stops us from doing the things we love or depression keeps us from making the connections to people and things that give us meaning and purpose.

You might look like you’re coping on the outside, while inside you feel anxious, low, overwhelmed or stuck. Maybe you’re battling shame and self‑criticism, masking neurodivergence, or feeling caught between cultures, family expectations or ideas about masculinity. You may not have the words for what’s wrong, but you know something needs to change. I work with adults who are tired of managing alone and want a steady, non‑judgemental space to understand themselves and move towards a life that feels more authentic and sustainable.

Most of us experience times in our lives when we feel lost, stuck, misunderstood and sometimes we can find ourselves in a dark place not knowing what to do or how to make the changes we might feel are needed. This can involve questioning who we are, wrestling with difficult questions, trauma, illness, addiction or loss. Sometimes people don't have anyone they feel able to talk to or sharing with people close might be difficult. I hope to offer a space in which you can feel safe and respected while you explore these challenges and move towards improved mental health.

As a psychologist specialising in performance, my approach is centred on the belief that every individual has the potential for growth, self-awareness, and fulfilment. I focus on creating a safe, empathetic environment where we can explore your thoughts and feelings, particularly as they relate to your well-being, and overall life balance. We will collaborate together to discover your needs and find ways to support them. Through this shared experience, I found clients experience more fulfillment in a way that is true to themselves.

As a qualified integrative therapist, respect is at the centre of my beliefs. I fervently believe that an individual, no matter who you are, should have the arena in which to be heard, without prejudice, without judgement, and with compassion. Our inclusive space will be one of confidentiality, trust and a pace that you feel able to go at, and my hope is that we will work to resolve, or at least identify, some, if not all, of the reasons that you've decided to reach out.

Would you say your childhood was fine but can't identify many times where you felt happy? Do you experience feelings of emptiness, struggle in relationships, or find yourself always doing things for other people who never return the favour? Has something changed in your life and now you're finding it hard to adjust? Do you struggle to understand why you do some of the things you do? Do you feel like you can never find other people who have similar experiences to yours?

There are many difficulties in life that can feel overwhelming at times. Life circumstances or internal struggles can leave us feeling as if we are not getting what we should out of life and we want to be able to move forward. In all circumstances I believe passionately in the power of therapy to help enact positive change. The tools and skills you could learn with me can enable you to feel that you can live the rest of your life free from what has been holding you back. We would do this together working at your pace and always being in partnership.
