Ingrid is passionate about helping others achieve their goals and fulfil their potential, by combining a knowledge and understanding of coaching and psychology. This is done by providing challenging and thought provoking questions that lead to clarity, have breakthroughs or answer difficult questions, which in turn can lead to transformation. Ingrid’s experience, coupled with a passion for positive psychology, that is, the focus on human strengths rather than weaknesses, has led to the understanding of the power of shifting one’s perspective. Much is to gain from challenging and difficult experiences in life.

Life can be a struggle challenging and confusing. Sometimes it can be difficult to talk openly to the people in your life. As an experienced psychotherapist I provide a safe, confidential space to explore whatever is on your mind. I can support you in finding your way through the difficulties you’re experiencing, or have experienced in the past, in a way that feels right for you, and at a pace that feels comfortable. We can work together to make sense of what you’re thinking, feeling and going through, allowing you to develop a sense of healing, establish goals and grow towards them, and gain a greater understanding of yourself.

I sought help for depression aged 20 but found the initial search overwhelming. How would I choose the right person for me? Fortunately, excellent therapists, and a psychotherapy group changed my life. I am now a qualified psychodrama psychotherapist working with individuals and groups. If you are stuck, unable to achieve your potential for whatever reason, I can help. Our relationship is at the core of your therapy so I offer a free 50 minute session to ease your decision-making. My work is humanistic and integrative, focusing on your feelings, body, mind and spirit. I can help you step into your power to change your life.

Throughout our lives we all experience difficulties and challenges that sometimes we can’t manage on our own. Psychotherapy can be an extremely powerful tool to help us become more aware of who we are and gain a better understanding about our relationships with others and the situations we find ourselves in. My main approach to Psychotherapy draws on psychodynamic and attachment based principles, which involves the idea that thinking about past experiences and early childhood relationships can help make sense of current feelings, experiences, relationships and difficulties.

I help people with anxiety, stress and worry (including phobias and insomnia). I understand how debilitating anxiety & worry can be - often physically and mentally draining. It can feel as if anxiety is starting to rule your life. My aim is to help you learn skills to break free from your anxiety and worry, and reclaim your life. I want to work WITH you, rather than doing therapy TO you - after all, you are the expert in you! I'm also passionate about helping you develop the skills to become your own therapist, not reliant on me or tied into long-term therapy.

Coming to see a counsellor can be a daunting experience. You may feel anxious, embarrassed or scared, however, it can be a relief to be able to talk to someone who doesn’t have a stake in your life. I'll give you the space and time you deserve to finally get to know yourself, find acceptance and experience the change. I'll help you to find a new perspective of looking at things, clear the fog and find clarity and hope; recognise unhelpful patterns in your thinking and behaviour and identify other, more helpful ones; recognise difficult feelings and find ways to live with them; find a way to release feelings of stuckness and move on.

I’m a strong believer that, in the words of Nelson Mandela “there is no passion to be found playing small – in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living” – yet sometimes life is really quite tough and we find ourselves struggling and this ideal seems far from our reality. You may find yourself feeling emotionally overwhelmed, anxious or lonely. Or, you may have been struggling for some time and haven’t found the motivation to address it but now that struggle may be feeling a little bigger.

Are social situations leaving you drained or unfulfilled? Maybe you can't speak to friends and family about how disconnected you're feeling and they aren't understanding you. Do you want to be more open, assertive and have a greater sense of purpose in life? Need time for yourself? A space to air confusing or painful thoughts and experiences that build up over the weeks. Sometimes we need to reflect and vent about our relationships with a warm, neutral professional.

How can I find a therapist in KT3?
Search for nearby therapists or counsellors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or postcode; or a provider’s name into the search bar. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or postcode into the search bar.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counsellors are all licensed mental health professionals. In many countries, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counsellor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counsellors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counsellor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counselling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
