As a therapist, I specialise in supporting young people and families who are affected by symptoms of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and related disorders. Young people with OCD may be troubled by intrusive worries or images and engage in repetitive or ritualised behaviours to try and relieve their anxiety. Over time, these challenges can begin to impact their schooling, their social relationships and their daily functioning. I am passionate about supporting young people to take meaningful steps towards a life without OCD, using CBT with a focus on exposure and response prevention (ERP).

Do you find yourself struggling at times? Perhaps going through a challenging life adjustment, relationship difficulties, trying to make sense of your emotions and experiences or feeling overwhelmed? Counselling can help you, offering a warm and non-judgemental place for you to talk in confidence about yourself, in a way that we don't usually get to do. Whether you are feeling lonely, anxious, angry, fearful, sad, in a low mood or grieving, or just have a sense that things aren't right but not sure where to turn, consider coming to therapy and focusing on yourself, your goals and exploring changes you'd like to make to your life.

You've reached this page for many reasons, from being diagnosed with a mental health problem to feeling stuck and unable to progress in particular areas of life. I work from the premise that you are an active participant in therapy and hold choice and responsibility in how you want to move forward, whether this includes making sense of, accepting and processing things that have happened to you, or developing existing skills and building new strategies to cope with life's challenges.

Life can feel overwhelming at times, particularly after the pandemic and with the current economic and environmental uncertainty. Anxiety, depression and loneliness are common issues many people face on top of relationship difficulties, bereavement and loss, and trauma. Therapy offers the chance to talk about what is bothering you in a warm, empathic and confidential space. I am a registered psychodynamic psychotherapist with the BPC & BACP and have found that by giving someone the space to talk and reflect on how they feel, and where those feelings come from, enables them to understand themselves better.

Life...Relationships...Work.... I partner with individuals and couples who want a place to reflect and make sense of their current difficulties so that they can get back on track. I offer a friendly, down to earth, research backed approach both online and face to face. I can provide counselling, psychotherapy and coaching, or a combination as determined by your unique needs. I start from the perspective that people make sense i.e. their behaviour and what they are experiencing have meaning that can be understood in the context of their history and their current life context.

We can all find life hard at times. It can throw up difficulties that feel overwhelming and out of our control. I support adults and teenagers through a range of issues including anxiety, depression, bereavement, relationship issues and Asperger Syndrome. When we experience distress, sadness, loneliness, anxiety or depressed mood, it can feel difficult to bear and leave us feeling powerless. Working alongside a therapist means you need not face these difficulties alone.

Hello and Welcome, Life has indeed become complex. Many of us are now struggling with our mental health in ways that are no longer manageable. Our past and present hurts, our unprocessed feelings have risen to the surface. We find ourselves thinking, feeling and acting in ways that do not reflect who we want to be. Some of us have Grief, Trauma or Addiction that we just can’t seem to work through. As a Senior Accredited Psychotherapist with a Master Degree and EMDR Accredited, I've seen thousands come through my door, with various presenting issues and undergo genuine transformation, healing and leave with hope for the future.

The pressures of life can often seem overwhelming. Juggling different roles as a professional, parent, partner can leave you feeling like you have lost your own identity. Feeling able to be yourself in a space which is safe, confidential and where you can have good quality professional counselling is what I am to provide. Being listened to and understood can lift the weight of daily pressures. Working out your priorities really can help you to move forward.

How can I find a therapist in KT21?

Search for nearby therapists or counsellors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or postcode; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or postcode into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counsellors are all licensed mental health professionals. In many countries, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counsellor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counsellors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counsellor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counselling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
