Often people find that painful experiences and relationships in their past mean that things in the present can be complicated and sometimes hard to bear. They affect how we feel about ourselves, how we feel about the world and how we relate to other people we encounter. If we work together we’ll explore what brought you to therapy now and think together about where the difficulties in your present might have come from. I will listen very carefully to you in order to appreciate what you are feeling so that we can begin to see how you might find a greater freedom in your life.
Therapy helps by creating a safe space to explore the past and understand better the present. I have over 25 years experience listening to people and supporting them with emotional difficulties. I work as a psychodynamic psychotherapist which means that the relationship between us is very important.
When things are dark it can feel hopeless and impossible but talking with someone experienced and skilful can unlock the strength and tenacity that we all have within us. An initial session or two should be enough to know whether I am the right person for you to talk with and, after that, therapy can last a number of weeks, months or sometimes much longer.
