Living with a visible or invisible long term illness can impact on your thoughts, feelings and behaviour and affect your relationships, wellbeing and ability to function. I’m comfortable having difficult conversations about health and medical conditions, treatments, symptoms and the effect they have on your mental wellbeing. Psychological support can help you manage these challenges and get on with living a good life. Psychological support can also be helpful when you are receiving medical care or surgery. Collaborating with me before and after you have medical treatment or surgery can maximise your coping strategies and recovery.
I offer in person (in Edinburgh) and remote individual psychological therapy specialising in Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). I have supported people with a range of medical diagnoses, health concerns and through various medical procedures.
I often speak to people feeling really distressed about their health, when they aren’t sure if things can improve. I have lots of experience collaboratively helping people who feel this way, and believe you are the expert in your condition and how it affects you. Contact me to discuss if I can help you achieve your therapy goals.
