Hello, my name is Kate, I am a fully qualified humanistic and CBT counsellor based in the New Forest. I am a registered member of the BACP, which means I am a member of an association which ensures that I am always working with your best interests at heart. My approach is flexible, I am interested in learning about your unique situation and experience, working together at a pace and in a way that is right for you. I can assist by providing a safe space, where you feel heard and understood, where you are met with compassion and acceptance and are able to make sense of your emotions so that life can begin to feel easier.
When we are low or upset, we often fall into patterns of thinking and responding which can worsen how we feel. CBT works to help us notice and change problematic thinking styles or behaviour patterns so we can feel better. CBT gives you tools that can help you to change how you think (cognition) and what you do (behaviour).
I realise that it can be daunting to take the first step, so I offer a free 20 minute consultation where we can explore what you want from therapy and see if we are a good fit. As the work together progresses, we undertake regular reviews to ensure you’re achieving a positive direction from therapy and to reflect on how you are finding the experience.
