However stuck or uncertain you may feel at the moment, I firmly believe that within you is a strong and healthy self that knows exactly what is right for you and how to move forward. As a person-centred integrative counsellor, I have supported people who feel overwhelmed by anxiety, anger, grief, depression, low self-worth, isolation and traumatic memories to find a better emotional balance; like and understand themselves more; and feel stronger, more resourced and hopeful about the future.
Research shows that building a relationship of confidence and trust is more vital to the effectiveness of counselling than anything else, so that is my main focus. However, I integate a range of therapeutic tools to help clients develop self-compassionate solutions, and thus escape the cycle of self-criticism and inner conflict that many have lived with.
I have worked with people recovering from addiction and/or childhood trauma, abuse and neglect. I have also helped young people aged 18 to 25 to value their inner experiencing - a refreshing contrast to the "oughts" and "shoulds" that particularly plague that age group. Together we can gently explore what troubles you, and find your unique path forward.
