I became a therapist to help people because life can be hard, and it doesn’t always give us a chance to get our head around what’s happened to us. Therapy can help you make sense of whatever is going on for you and I feel really privileged that this is my job. Who I am in the therapy room is who I am in day-to-day life, I hope to show up as my full self and I hope you will feel able to too. I strive to make my practice affirmative and inclusive because I often find that aspects of people’s identity affect their wellbeing. I take the responsibility to educate myself so that you can focus on what brought you to therapy.
I’m a person-centred counsellor and this type of therapy chimes with who I am. It’s built on empathy and genuine human connection and it’s respectful of all the things that make you, you. I meet my clients where they are and as they are - I want to understand your experience, so I won’t make judgements or assumptions.
Person-centred therapy is guided by you and together we will build an understanding of what life is like for you, why you react to things in certain ways, and what (if anything) you would like to change. I firmly believe that there is a place for humour, laughter and joy in therapy because you are more than the worst experiences you’ve had.
