I offer a warm, confidential listening space to enable you to explore your thoughts and concerns without judgement. I believe that within a supportive counselling relationship we can build on our own strengths and resilience in order to change and grow, and to find ways to cope better with adversity and live as fully as we can. I am led by the needs of you as an individual, working at your pace. I offer short and long-term work.
I have been committed to greater inclusion of LGBT+ people throughout my working life. I also have experience of working with autistic people and ADHD to provide effective therapy based on individual needs.
I have 15 years experience working with survivors in the domestic abuse and sexual violence sector for Women's Aid, the Sexual Assault Referral Centre and Rape Crisis as a counsellor. I have considerable training in working in a trauma-informed, strengths-based way.
I am also trained in EMDR which is an effective therapy for alleviating impacts of trauma.
My approach is integrative, using core ideas from person-centred theory in the importance of the therapeutic relationship and developing a strong sense of self . We may also consider how early relationships and experience provide insight into our current sense of our place in the world. I can offer daytime, and some evening appointments.
