Hello, I am Joanne. I have been a family therapist in the NHS for over 20yrs. I have recently retired from working with young people and their families in Camhs and now I am offering family therapy privately. I have also worked as a family therapist in Adult Psychological Services. I work with families facing difficulties with mental health issues which are then impacting on communication/relationships within the family.
Many people need a bit of help when complications such separation, step family issues, adoption, anxiety, low mood and depression has been causing difficulties in their relationships. I can help you find ways to work together and resolve these issues.
I use different approaches in therapy depending what is needed. Every family is different and following an initial assessment, we would decide the way forward together. I tend to use a ‘narrative approach’ to help families/couples think and talk about their difficulties. I would usually meet with families on a monthly basis.
