About
Asking for help is not easy but making that first step can feel really positive. I am an experienced Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT) and work to help people (including children and young people) who are experiencing a range of issues including anxiety, OCD, depression, low self-esteem, sleep problems, and phobias. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy focuses on the links between thoughts, feelings and behaviours, especially the way unhelpful thoughts lead to and maintain distressing feelings and behaviours that can be a problem for some people and their families.
I work one to one and sessions are usually short term, practical, structured and focus on dealing with current problems rather than uncovering the past. The work aims to help the person identify, understand and change both unhelpful thoughts and behaviours in order to feel better and be able to function more effectively in everyday life.
The relationship between the client and therapist is very important if meaningful work is to take place and I recommend that you look around and find the right therapist for you. Please call to discuss how I might help. I have specific qualifications for working with children and young people.
