Thank you for your interest! I am an experienced Consultant Clinical Psychologist and I have worked in mental health services in the NHS for over 25 years. I have a particular skill in working collaboratively with people whilst keeping them connected to the important contexts of their lives, whether that is their partner, children, family, work or the values and beliefs which guide them. I think it is important to acknowledge the impact of intergenerational strengths & trauma as well as attending to community resources & adversities given the powerful effect these can have in shaping our lives.
I have additional post-qualification training in Systemic Psychotherapy, Narrative Therapy, CBT & EMDR. I have also trained in Mindfulness Approaches (MBSR/MBCT) from the University of Bangor and varying somatic & mind-body trainings, all of which enable me to attend to distress held in the body and healing that can come from within.
Finding the right therapist should take time given the level of trust we place when we are at our most vulnerable. Alongside my independent practice I hold a senior role in the public sector and so if I believe I am not the right fit for you I will work collaboratively with you to signpost you towards the appropriate practitioner or service.
