I work with clients who are in need of personal support and can't find what they need from the people around them. This may be due to personal crisis in relationships, self-esteem difficulties, life transitions or longer term mental health issues. I usually work with clients in an open ended way and look at both the present and the past. Together we get to know how you tick and see if fresh insights can support you to feel able to face the world again.
My style is Integrative & Relational. In practice this means I do not focus on using one theory or discipline of therapy but am influenced by several. It also means I believe we are social beings, who do best in healthy trusting relationships. This is what supports therapy too.
I supervise counsellors and psychotherapists and enjoy working with trainees.
I offer a positive perspective rather than one focussed on diagnoses and pathology. I believe you are unique and your strengths and weaknesses are organised to help you survive, whatever happened in the past. In our therapy relationship we will explore how your life is and how to move forward.
