About
I know it is really hard to find a counsellor who feels like someone you can talk to about the difficult thoughts and emotions that are bothering you. It’s not easy to take that first step towards sorting out the problems that are making life difficult. I have been a counsellor for many years. My clients tell me that I am compassionate, approachable and easy to talk to, and although much of our conversation is serious, you can smile and even laugh – all emotions are ok in a counselling session! Our session will feel much like a conversation, with the focus on you and what you are hoping to change.
I have experience of working with clients from all walks of life and with all sorts of presenting issues. People often ask me: ‘How do I know if I need Counselling?’ My answers to that is that everyone can benefit from counselling. It is not only for those who are mentally unwell, it can benefit anyone and everyone.
Whilst counselling sessions are often about exploring thoughts and feelings through talking, we can also engage in other ways of working, through drawing, play and writing. Not everyone finds it easy to talk about uncomfortable thoughts and feelings and these activities can help you to engage with emotions.
