Hi, how are you, you ok? a question often answered with 'I'm fine'! The truth is you're not fine, your struggling and finding life difficult. It is ok to feel this way. There is no way we get through life without periods of heartache and hardship; but we also don't have to go through it alone. Fear of what people might say or think, or challenging traditional or cultural beliefs can often cripple us from getting the help we need. We are afraid to be open and vulnerable or be criticised and I understand that this can be exhausting and complicated and often painful.

My focus in therapy is on a person's life and relationships, past and present. I regard symptoms or behaviour patterns as expressions of distress connected to life circumstances. My style is fairly active, but I'm careful to listen and check what I have heard. I pay attention to a person's narrative, including successes as well as difficulties. I am happy to share knowledge that might help my client or point to resources. Most of my work is relatively short term (12 sessions or less). Typically I start off with a questionnaire which includes client ideas about the goals of our work together.

As an experienced professional with over 25 years experience, dealing with anxiety, depression, addiction, relationship problems, general sadness and more deep rooted issues, I am aware of the need for people to find a therapist who can offer a discreet, confidential space separate to work and home life The key to successful therapy is finding the right therapist for you. However good a therapist is, it is the relationship between the two of you that determines whether you trust them enough, and they come to understand you enough, to help you explore and find solutions for your problem.

Finding the right counsellor and someone to connect with can be daunting. The prospect of finding the right person who can empathise, listen with great care and attention is crucial. We all go through difficult life experiences and sometimes having someone who can talk to, that is impartial, compassionate and truly value you, can make such a positive impact on someone's life. So often we hear "I'm not heard" or "I feel invisible" and this can have a crushing effect on the soul. Therapy is expressing yourself without the fear of being "judged". It allows you to be you! To explore why you feel the way you do and address those issues.

Hello, all are welcome. Anxiety, stress, depression and anger can creep up on us or appear quite suddenly. Sometimes life just gets too hard and we cannot cope. You may not even know why you feel the way you do, even so, talking with someone impartial can really help. I believe that mental health is no different to physical health in that systems can become unbalanced and give us problems. Support from a Counsellor can help to rebalance your mind. You may feel unsure but I encourage you to come and meet me, then see how you feel.

I am a psychodynamic therapist who is specialised in emotional problems, relationship problems and acute/ historical trauma. Many people struggle in life because their emotions, thoughts and decision making process are dictated by the maladaptive patterns that enabled them to survive in the past but restrict them from living a fulfilling life. I can help you identify these mal-adaptive patterns, release the trapped emotions and develop an adaptive coping mechanism that would set you free and allow you to thrive in life.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counsellors are all licensed mental health professionals. In many countries, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counsellor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counsellors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counsellor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counselling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
