I have a keen interest in working with individuals who are seeking self-awareness. Art Therapy allows expression that is not based on spoken language only. You don't need any artistic skills or any previous experience in creative expression. I hope for clients to learn their own skills and tools to heal and transform and be their best possible self. I know how hard life can be due to situations from past and present that affect us.

Thank you for taking time to read about the services I offer in my practice. With my focus on both Individual and Couples Counselling (any relationship between 2 people that focuses on relational dynamics eg: marital, family dynamics) there are many areas I maybe able to help. If seeking personal counselling, you may be experiencing life events such as Bereavement and Loss, Cycles of addiction/abuse, Anger, Loss of identity. Couples Counselling can help if you are at an in-pass? Something you just can’t move past? Break down of trust? Or do you need to make an impossible compromise of a big life-changing decision?

When you find yourself dealing with an unexpected life event or feelings that are overwhelming and hard to cope with, I feel it is the power of connection in relationship that can be the greatest source of support. This emphasis on connection allows us to create a therapeutic relationship where focussing on your needs is at the heart of the work together. Having experience of working in private practice, in a secondary school and with elite athletes I aim to support you in understanding your emotions and behaviours, to try to make sense of what may be going on for you underneath the surface.

I know how hard it can be to feel overwhelmed by the stresses of life or upsetting experiences, anxious about the future, worried about the past, and not feeling good enough. You might be trying to cope with this by keeping busy and pushing yourself, leaving you feeling exhausted, low in motivation and increasingly disconnected from yourself and what is important to you. You may also be struggling with physical illness or bodily symptoms such as tension, headaches, pain, and fatigue, or functional neurological symptoms.

The experience of coming for therapy is an opportunity for you to discover for the first (or subsequent) time in life that you can let go of all the judgements, the fear and hesitation, and begin to talk about what is bothering you. We become wounded within a sense of connectedness - in families, relationships, friendships and society - and paradoxically it is within a sense of connectedness that we can begin to heal. Healing the emotional brain takes time, but it is a creative and deeply fulfilling process that brings wonderful gifts with itself. I help my clients to begin to feel more balanced and calm within their mind and body.

Exploring the possibility of counselling/psychotherapy is a courageous step, one which can enable you to become more fully yourself. Therapy should be a place where you can feel safe and accepted, where you find it easier to share things that are concerning you. It can be a place where you come to find out more about yourself, to challenge yourself and make choices and decisions that lead towards a more positive and hopeful future. Sometimes there is something from our past, an event or an aspect of ourselves, that seems to be holding us back, and therapy can support us in addressing those things too. Life can be challenging and at times we may not have the capacity to deal with everything going on. I have created the garden room in Launton, the village I live in, where the outdoors comes in to promote healing. Private and overlooking its own garden, it’s a peaceful space within which to work through what is troubling you at this time.

If you always seem to be in unhappy relationships; suffer from anxiety or depression; feel angry all the time; are struggling with addictive behaviors; feel in constant emotional pain; or feel like no-one really listens to you properly or notices what you are going through; then I can offer you the time and space to be seen and heard, and start to work through what you are facing.

When life events past or present become overwhelming, it can feel hard to cope with things alone & often hard to reach out to family or friends. If you are experiencing trauma & PTSD symptoms, such as anxiety, depression, flashbacks, panic attacks, anger issues, self-harm, low self-esteem, disconnection, shame, loss, isolation, we can work together at your pace to help you move through these feelings & behaviours. "Trauma is not what happens to you, it’s what happens inside you as a result of what happened to you. Trauma is that scarring that makes you less flexible, more rigid, less feeling and more defended." (Dr Gabor Mate)

How can I find a therapist in HP17?
Search for nearby therapists or counsellors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or postcode; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or postcode into the search bar.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counsellors are all licensed mental health professionals. In many countries, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counsellor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counsellors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counsellor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counselling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
