About

We all find relationships and intimacy challenging - being close to people challenges our beliefs about ourselves and our trusted ways of relating do not always serve us well. When we get stuck over and over again in our intimate, family or work relationships, it is often due to our deeply buried or unconscious beliefs about ourselves. Many of my clients express what a relief it can be to share their problems and to realise that they are not weird or sick. We all struggle for a reason. In a group it can be especially helpful to realise that you are not alone - there are other people struggling with 'what it means to be human'.
As a Group Analyst and full member of the Institute of Group Analysis, I have had a rigorous training followed by over 25 years experience of practice. I was Principal Adult Psychotherapist for Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, prior moving setting up a new charity called Brighton Therapy Centre. I believe in making therapy more accessible.
A Psychotherapy Group meets once or twice weekly for 90 minutes, with up to eight people plus the therapist. Many of my clients find that they look forward to their group - it becomes like a supportive family, where they can be themselves. It is often a relief to realise that issues that have made them feel isolated are shared by others.

Howard Edmunds's Groups

Twice weekly psychotherapy group

This twice weekly group is especially helpful for understanding how you block yourself in relation to others or how you get into difficulties due to lack of confidence or low self esteem. We all find relationships complex and confusing at times. The group provides a safe place to build confidence and talk about your struggles with others. We consider the past and present - how you have been impacted by your past experiences as well as how you experience being in relationships now. I am LGBTQI friendly and seek to make the group accessible to all.

Wednesday evening group

This once weekly group is meets for 90 minutes with up to eight clients plus the therapist. It has been meeting for over eight years. The immediate effect of group therapy is to increase your self confidence and self esteem. Having a group you belong to where you can open up about your worries, concerns or problems is a huge relief - especially when you realise that you are not alone and others share similar issues. We all find relationships difficult at times and a group is a place to find out why you block yourself and get stuck.
