I am a qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor for children and young people. Previous to my training I have 30 years of experience as a teacher. I work in person with children and young people aged 5 to 17. My training is specifically for children and young people so you can be assured that I can provide expert help for your child. I work with many issues including anxiety, depression, attachment, bereavement and trauma. I have extensive experience in working with children affected by domestic violence. I can provide short or long term therapy as needed.
I use a humanistic integrative approach which places great importance on the relationship between therapist and child. I am totally child centred, meeting the needs of each individual child at their stage of development. I build strong, positive relationships with each child enabling them to explore feelings and process trauma in a safe way.
I incorporate many types of activity into my sessions including talking therapy, play therapy and art therapy. I encourage creative activities as a means of helping each child to express themselves.
