I also work with couples and families. My approach to counselling is ‘Client-Centred’ having been trained in a number of modalities; Psychodynamic, Person-Centred, Existential, CBT and as a Family Systemic Practitioner. I believe it is firstly the relationship between counsellor and client(s) which provides the foundation to explore, understand, challenge and change patterns of behaviour which are causing relationship difficulties and personal distress.
I have worked with adults, children and young people for 25 years with a range of issues. These include family and relationship problems, anxiety, depression, trauma and abuse. This is by no means an exhaustive list and I will work with anyone experiencing any kind of issue. who is open to change. First sessions are important to see how we get on.
I try to offer a positive environment in which together we can discover new insights and understanding. I call myself client-centred as I try to offer the therapy which ‘fits’ the needs of the client. This can be a talking therapy using different approaches of exploring the past and present or something more solution focussed depending on individual needs.
