I'm Helen & I'm an Accredited Integrative Psychotherapist & Counsellor. I know that it takes a huge amount of courage to seek out counselling. I recognise that & will provide an authentic, non judgemental approach to exploring whatever it is you might bring to therapy. An integrated approach means I draw on a number of specific therapies that can treat each client in a variety of situations, rather than having a single approach. I believe a therapeutic relationship & trust are of key importance in therapy work & have a down to earth, but highly compassionate approach, often taking a trauma informed approach to counselling.
I have 20 years experience working with young adults on improving confidence & mood, & lowering anxiety & stress, including a diverse adult client base, both within a University environment & in the wider community. I include appropriate interventions, which are tailored to help clients make sense of what is at the heart of so much of their pain.
Not everyone knows exactly what they want from this process. This can be something we work out together. I offer a safe space in which you can find your way to feeling less ‘stuck’& more able to move forward in your life. I follow work done by BAATN Black, African & Asian Therapy Network, which is important to me both professionally, ethically & personally.
