I have worked with clients through Relate since 1995, first of all only with couples and adult individuals and then since 2013 with Young People aged 10 to 18 through a contract with CAHMS. The couple work has included working with divorce and separation, affairs, extended family issues, parenting, illness, work pressures, communication issues and sexual problems. Clients might start with a clear agenda or we might spend some time establishing the focus of the therapy as it develops. Amongst other things, the work through CAMHS has covered anxiety, suicidal ideation, family issues, sexuality and transgender issues.
I aim to offer a confidential and safe therapeutic space where issues can be identified and worked through ethically until an agreed ending. I work using an integrative psychodynamic approach tailoring the sessions to each client and their needs. I am a fully qualified supervisor and can supervise trainee or qualified counsellors.
I have many years of counselling experience and aim to engage with every client in a respectful way to establish an agreed agenda for our work and build a therapeutic relationship focused on whatever issues might be brought. I recognise that successful counselling starts with establishing a productive relationship based on mutual trust and honesty.
