I believe in the power of nature to heal and provide a space with views of a beautiful garden as well as the opportunity to work outside either walking in the forest or seated by a pond and waterfall. In the work we can harness the natural environment to help calm a dysregulated nervous system and bring back a sense of safety and control.
Feeling overwhelmed by life's challenges happens to us all at times. I provide a safe space to explore what is causing your pain and understand where you are in all of this. This could be the first step in prioritising yourself and your own needs and finding lasting happiness.

Stuck, exhausted, numbing it somehow.
Relationships fraying, drinking more than you'd like.
Lying awake at 3am thinking about nothing and everything.
You don't need the right words, just the feeling that something needs to change.
That's enough to start.
I'm a humanistic counsellor trained in transactional analysis. I'm interested in you as a whole person, the patterns you carry, where they came from, and whether they're still working for you. Often they're not.
I work with anxiety, depression, addiction, alcoholism, and relationships, with others and with yourself. These things rarely show up alone.
Honest, unhurried, human.

Couples Counselling will help you to understand your emotions and discover a new intimacy. I talk to couples every day who are wanting more from their relationships. Some want to renew a long gone passion and others are just fighting to stay together - the answer is often found by looking at new ways to communicate with each other rather than fixing a disagreement. There will be reasons for your behaviour that make sense and I will help you to uncover these throughout our sessions together. You may have an ‘arguing style’ and by looking more deeply, at your inner hurt and anger, we will be able to discover what is really going on.

tinyurl.com/4848yeyr - I believe in an existential-analytic approach to emotional suffering. My experience suggests to me that the 'symptoms' clients enter therapy for help with are meaningfully connected with deeper existential issues. As such, it is shortsighted to view things like anxiety, depression, phobias and more as 'diseases of the mind', 'disorders' or 'irrational cycles of thought/feeling/behavior'. At their root they are forms of suffering, linked with real and valid—if hard to understand—problems in living. Fundamental human concerns around which you (consciously or not) are sensitive, and have developed responses to.

Counselling can help you work through troubling emotions, thoughts or behaviour. This might include recurring thoughts, anxiety, depression and compulsive or unwanted behaviour. Counselling can also provide a space for those who wish to explore issues from their past including childhood and how these may be impacting them today. Sometimes clients find a few sessions just having the space and time to voice their concerns helps them to clarify things and make connections. Other clients will want to look more deeply into their past and current issues and may require more sessions. I work with individual adults (aged 18+).

Life can be busy, and it's easy to keep going without taking time to pause and reflect. Therapy offers that opportunity. My role is to listen carefully, understand your experiences, and support you as you work through the challenges you face. A safe, supportive therapeutic relationship is at the heart of our work together. As talking therapy isn't right for everyone, I also offer equine and animal-assisted therapy. Through feeling heard and understood, you can develop greater self-awareness and acceptance, leading to positive changes in your wellbeing, relationships, and daily life.

Are you experiencing a difficult or challenging time in your life? Perhaps you are feeling stuck and unable to move forward? Whatever your reason for considering therapy and viewing my profile, it is often the case that we 'hit the wall' or 'crash' emotionally before we can identify that we may need professional support. When our usual coping mechanisms no longer work the struggle can be overwhelming. As your therapist I recognise this as your first and critical step toward positive change. You are, I'm sure, familiar with the phrase 'if you do what you've always done...you get what you've always got' and how true it is.....

I’m a Senior Accredited NCPS and UKCP-reg. Gestalt psychotherapist working with individuals, groups and couples. My work is relational and experiential, with a focus on what unfolds between us in the present moment, as well as how your past continues to shape your emotional world, relationships, and sense of self.
I tend to work with people who feel caught in familiar but difficult patterns, whether that’s anxiety, low mood, ADHD, relational struggles, or the impact of earlier experiences. Often this can show up as overwhelm, self-criticism, emotional intensity, or a sense of disconnection, either from yourself or from others.

Relationships are at the core of our well-being, whether they are personal, professional or even historical. They impact how we feel about ourselves, our sense of identity, and how others perceive us. They are a source of great comfort, and can be a source of great pain and distress. Often they are both.
Psychotherapy is a space where you can explore your experiences, your internal sense of who you are, and what you want in different areas in your life. Therapeutic relationship with its focus on acceptance and empathy can offer you the opportunity to do so confidentially and without fear, and find your own way forward.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
Counsellors and Psychotherapists listed in the directory are members of the main professional associations, mainly the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). Most Psychologists in the directory are accredited members of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and/or are registered in the Health and Care Professions Council (HPCP).
Providers whose professional membership or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Given that professional memberships are not a statutory requirement for psychotherapists and counsellors in the UK, certain qualified professionals or organisations may choose not to maintain such memberships despite possessing the necessary qualifications. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?
Counsellors, psychotherapists and psychologists can all provide counselling or talking therapy and have credentials and experience that enable them to do so in the UK. Psychologists have earned a degree in psychology and many are members of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and have completed a postgraduate qualification in a specialism. Counsellors and Psychotherapists are not required to have a psychology degree, but to belong to a professional organisation such as the BACP or UKCP, they are required to have completed a training course as well as clinical and supervision hours.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
How much does therapy cost?
The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the UK could be between £30 - £60 when seeing a counsellor and £60 - £150 and up when seeing a clinical psychologist. If you have private insurance, your plan may cover some if not all of your sessions. You should contact your insurance provider to determine if they provide coverage for therapy sessions and to determine what, if any, requirements they might have in order for your sessions to be covered, such as a referral from your GP or medical specialist.
What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?
Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.
If you are struggling to access therapy due to budget constraints, you could also consider public funded mental health services. The NHS Talking therapies programme offers free of charge counselling for common mental health problems like anxiety and depression. The service is available to anyone registered with a GP, though you do not necessarily need to be referred by your GP and can refer yourself directly to a Talking therapies service. The service will provide different solutions, including group and individual therapy, for a limited number of sessions which are generally up to six.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.
Are therapy sessions confidential?
Therapists who are part of a professional organisation such as the BACP, the UKCP, or BPS are bound by an ethical framework that requires them to uphold a confidentiality agreement. Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship and only under specific circumstances, such as when there has been participation in a criminal act or act of terror, or if there is potential or known harm to the client or others, will a therapist be obligated to break the agreement. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed during the initial consultation.
