My focus is clients who see themselves as Carers, to another person, people or group - whose quality of daily life is in part or whole, is largely dependent on the care provided. My clients have lost the ability to see themselves as separate from their caring, or to put their own needs first. Life has has become blurred-like trying to see in a fogged-up mirror. Often clients want to 'just' unburden, tentatively trying out the novel feeling of hearing their own voice, exhausted, angry, overlooked and ironically, not well cared for themselves, very often managing their own
I am a mature female in my early 60's, I trained with CRUSE Bereavement Care, and then did a degree in Integrative Relational Psychotherapy. I am also a life-long carer with a special interest in family dynamics, as well as learning disabilities. My approach is to build the foundations of our relationship first, our therapy is Your time and space
We are praised for being 'wonderful' or selfless' or both. But Caring can also be an overwhelming and thankless grind. Daily repetition, often without enough support can wear good humour, kindness and even fairness, very thin. If any of this is familiar, and you want to talk confidentially, I encourage you to please try a 20 minute free consultation
