Hi there. I work with children, young people and adults.
To begin with, it is often enough to be seen and known and understood by someone who is not judging you but is compassionate and accepting. From this starting point we will unpack and begin to understand what life is like for you. Inevitably, we will then work our way backwards, looking at how your experiences have shaped who you are and how you see the world and your relationships. Whatever we discover, we will work towards it becoming integrated safely within your body-mind, leaving you to be your solid and flexible self.
I believe the safe space in counselling and the relationship between therapist and client is fundamental to the success of the outcomes of therapy. I like to meet you where you are at, allowing and accepting all of you and encourage you to go at your pace as we explore who you are in the world by exploring who you are in the room with me.
Therapy can help you unpack what is going on for you right now and how the past fits with that. Within the safe space of therapy, you are able to listen to those parts of yourself that have not been heard for a while, putting you in touch with all of you; and all of the wisdom that lies within. As you trust in the process more and more, integration begins.
