I am a UK-qualified (PGdip/MA) integrative humanistic counsellor. I have 4 years experience working mainly with people suffering from stress, anxiety, depression and issues around self-esteem. My practice draws on a number of different counselling theories but is primarily person-centred, based on the exploration of thoughts and feelings heard without judgement. I think my clinical training is supported by a rich life-experience. Aside from the UK, I have lived in Spain, the USA, and Colombia. I spent years doing many different jobs before focussing on a career in counselling.
I like to take a holistic approach in my practice, encouraging clients to examine their personal experience against the backdrop of life's realities. I think it's important to understand both who we are and the context in which we find ourselves. I believe that encouraging self-awareness and developing self-acceptance are the keys to peace of mind.
Engaging in counselling is a very positive and creative step to take because therapy can potentially both alleviate unnecessary psychological suffering and promote personal development. I use my relational style of counselling to forge a 'therapeutic alliance' with my clients because I see this bond as the basis of effective therapy and positive change.
