In a society where individualism, competition and oppression of what is different are dominant, it is hard to find ways for our lives to unfold in expressive and mutually empowering relationship with fellow humans and more than human beings. The relational issues passed through generations that had a traumatic impact on our upbringing, the difficulties related to changes and challenges we encounter throughout our lives, the fear that comes with the uncertainty of an unpredictable future, can be addressed through therapy so that we can bring more joy, ease and agency into our lives.

I did not become a therapist for no reason, and I know what it's like to experience anxiety, shame and self-hate, and to deeply believe of not being enough and to truly believe that others think that too. Therapy only started working when I found a therapist with whom I felt, seen, heard and felt with. I am passionate about my work. I show up as human being first and a therapist second. I am down-to-earth, honest, and compassionate. If life feels too much, you don't have to face it alone. I am here to walk alongside you to help you as you find your way back, or maybe for the first time, to your true self.

Hello, my name is Andy, I’m a counsellor & psychotherapist based in Finnieston, Glasgow and a Registered Member of BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy). I work with clients (aged 16+) in-person and online. Working online means I’m able to help people across the UK & worldwide. I believe the true mechanism of change is through the relationship & although I've extensive theoretical knowledge to assist me in the therapeutic process, it is the connection to my clients which I find is most vital.

The idea of my approach is an integrative one: I've studied, and I'm qualified to deliver, a mixed modality of therapies to address client issues. From psychodynamic active listening and using a safe space to get things out in the open, or perhaps using CBT techniques to address something specific, either way - I'm equipped to help guide you through what it is that is troubling you, or holding you back, from moving forward.

I am an experienced therapist, with around 30 years in practice helping people who feel stuck or disconnected, who are suffering losses, in transitions in life, or struggling with something that just doesn't feel right. If that sounds like you, you may wonder whether it's even possible to feel alright in the world as it is, or maybe there's something in your past or present experience that you've never really felt able to speak about. Counselling, an attuned, non-judgmental relationship in which it's safe to explore, can really shift your experience.

I offer a creative approach to psychotherapy, in-person in central Glasgow. Talking is always an option, and there are always creative materials available.
When working creatively, there is absolutely no need for any 'skill' or experience. The focus is on the process - your experience of creating, and any meaning there may be.
Simply put, creative approaches can help express what is hard to put into words, and offer ways to regulate emotionally.

As an integrative counsellor, I understand there is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. Instead, I will work collaboratively with you to identify your unique preferences and goals, drawing on different theories and methods that are most helpful for you. I take a strengths-based approach, identifying and building on your existing skills and resourcefulness to bring about change. I will seek to co-create a respectful therapeutic relationship that provides the safety you need to explore the experiences that brought you to counselling.
