Have you ever thought, "why do I act like this? Why do I think this way? I wish I didn't!" Perhaps you're fed up with feeling anxious or depressed, and are ready for things to change. You are not alone in feeling this way, but it's not always easy to discuss personal issues with friends or family. I help my clients discover who they are. Exploring how the past influences the present can help you understand why you respond the way you do, and why you might experience anxiety or depression. This is not about managing symptoms but addressing the underlying causes - you don't want to just feel better, but stay better!
Counselling provides the opportunity to talk about your problems with a compassionate, non-judgemental listener, lifting some of the burden off your shoulders. Each session would involve discussion and drawing out applications for day-to-day life. I might use creative techniques like drawing or photo therapy cards or suggest ideas to reflect on at home.
In my experience, working together like this to explore your life can be transformative. I would love to chat with you about how I can help you in the situation you face, in a free introductory call. If you were to decide to work with me, we could meet in person at my comfortable office on Giles Street, Leith, or online.
