I have worked with people from different backgrounds suffering from anxieties and feelings of despair and depression. Self criticism and criticism towards others may lead to isolation and low self esteem. People may not understand their feelings or why similar patterns in relationships occur. Grief arising from a loss, such as a bereavement, may too evoke a wide range of difficult feelings making it hard to cope. Whilst the facts of the past cannot be changed, your story can become updated in therapy. This can help un-addressed difficulties feel more manageable. Consequently, therapy can be a catalyst for growth and healing.
I am a UKCP Registered Psychotherapist and a Registered Member of BACP as a Registered counsellor. Psychotherapy is a more wide ranging and a longer process usually, than counselling, for deeper changes. Counselling focuses on specific issues/problems and tends to be shorter term.
The first assessment session is charged at the full negotiated rate and I will likely ask you more questions in this conversation. This includes inviting you to discuss why you are seeking therapy now, your current situation, past experience of any therapies, and how we would work together.
