I have worked with people from different backgrounds suffering from anxieties and feelings of despair and depression. Self criticism and criticism towards others may lead to isolation and low self esteem. People may not understand their feelings or why similar patterns in relationships occur. Grief arising from a loss, such as a bereavement, may too evoke a wide range of difficult feelings making it hard to cope. Whilst the facts of the past cannot be changed, your story can become updated in therapy. This can help un-addressed difficulties feel more manageable. Consequently, therapy can be a catalyst for growth and healing.
I am a UKCP Registered Accredited psychotherapist and a Registered Member of BACP as a Registered counsellor. Psychotherapy is a more wide ranging and a longer process usually, than counselling, for deeper changes. Counselling focuses on specific issues/problems and tends to be shorter term.
Meeting together in person, in a 50 minute session, would begin to help us identify why you are seeking therapy now, how we can collaborate in the work and review it. We would discuss payment, cancellation policy and weekly session time. In a 1st session I am likely to ask you more questions.
