I support clients to overcome their depression and anxiety disorders -such as GAD, OCD, PTSD, panic, social anxiety, health anxiety, phobias or body dysmorphia-. I also attend to problems such as low self-esteem, anger management problems, interpersonal difficulties and complex trauma. I have a strong background in working with people from underrepresented groups, especially the LGBTQI+ community and the neurodiverse community. I am looking to working with clients who are ready to get to know more about themselves, make changes in their lives, and to support them in their journey.

In my experience, people make the decision to come to counselling for many reasons, and I understand that it can feel very daunting to embark on a journey of this kind. I have a number of years experience of working with individuals with a range of issues including anxiety, depression, stress, anger, loss and bereavement, addictive behaviours, as well as family/work/relationship issues. I believe that just being able to talk about your thoughts and feelings can often bring great relief, and this experience can be life changing.

So, can talking to someone help? Absolutely ! Regardless of the reason you might keep it in, talking has powerful psychological benefits that might not be obvious. Life can throw up many challenges and I am able to offer a safe, supportive, confidential environment for adults, Couples and young people to talk through and try and make sense of what they are finding difficult. Sometimes, we can struggle to find the words to share our internal world or communicate our feelings. Using creative tools together can be useful to help identify and process what is happening.

Starting personal therapy is a big decision and it makes sense to wonder where to start and which psychotherapist to choose. How would you know what’s right for you? Making the decision to tell someone about the things that bother you most is not an easy one. However, if you are here, I would guess there’s a need to talk. Whatever it is - whether it is problems in the present, memories of the past or worries about the future - I can promise you a safe and confidential space to talk about it. A journey to find out what can make things better for you is a lot easier if you’re not alone in it.

Are past experiences or traumas impacting your life? Do you feel like you should be “over it” by now, but the past still keeps affecting the present? My name is Fi and I can help you unravel the hurt from past trauma. I'm not your typical therapist. I've been known to drop a well-placed swear word or three, because sometimes life's challenges call for a hearty dose of real talk. I specialise in Trauma Counselling but see clients with a wide range of issues. Trauma can be an overwhelming and complex experience, affecting every aspect of our lives.

We are living in a world where we have forgotten how to communicate. Stuck on our phones and in our online world. Are you struggling with the idea that the social contract is broken? Do you feel you have lost your identity, lost your purpose, do you have feelings of being stuck, are life changes affecting you, do you want to know who are you now? Your experiences write your story. Let’s work out how your stories affect your relationships with yourself and others. Who do you want to be? What do you want the rest of your story to say?

Welcome. Life can be tough. Sometimes we simply need to talk with someone who can listen without judgement; who does not 'give advice' but holds the space for personal reflection, growth and development. As a registered and accredited member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP), I am an independent, experienced and professional counsellor / psychotherapist, an approved Adoption counsellor and qualified in EMDR therapy. I work with young people and adults, including couples and families, across such issues as anxiety, bereavement, depression, relationships and trauma.

As a relational humanistic psychotherapist, I specialise in creating a warm and safe, non-judgmental and empathic space where clients are able to explore any difficult thoughts, feelings and behaviours that are getting in the way of healthy living, gaining insight into how to go forward. Oftentimes having suffered a significant life event such as a loss or bereavement, perhaps a divorce or other confusing relationship issues in the distant past, we become blocked, needing effective strategies and techniques to continue. I work online (during Covid lockdowns) by telephone or face to face, in both short and long term settings.

Do you walk on eggshells in certain relationships? Do you struggle to say no or set boundaries. Do you feel like your reality is being questioned? Have you been in a relationship that has been verbally abusive? Do you not have control of your finances, or personal decision making? Do conversations sound like they are 'crazy making' or going in circles. Sometimes we feel like we have lost ourselves in our relationships. Or we have experienced significant psychological abuse in the past. I help people make sense of their experiences in a safe and nurturing environment. You are not alone and can improve your life.

Hello, I am a warm, interactive therapist, keenly interested in finding how I can guide & support you to understand you, your relationships and experiences with increased self-compassion and understanding. The complex human system adapts to the environment from a place of survival and some of those adaptations can result in feelings of being too much or not enough at differing times. My areas of interest are relational & complex trauma, neurodivergence and supporting those from the LGBTQIA+ communities. Whatever your hopes are for therapy, even if you not quite sure what they are, my role is to ensure you feel heard and understood.

Do you feel like you are battling something? It may be anxiety or depression; anger or regret; a difficult relationship; a memory, grudge or sense of somehow being ‘wrong’. It may be that you find yourself repeating negative patterns of behaviour or thought, or your responses take you by surprise. You may fear talking to others about your struggles, thinking they are unreasonable or that no-one can help. I will support you with curiosity and compassion as you explore your experiences and make connections. Together we can create space for you to reflect and reconnect with yourself.

Hello, I am Dr Rima Lamba. I'm a feminist counselling psychologist with an interest in the unique experiences of women from a variety of ethnic and cultural backgrounds. I work closely with women who have struggled with self esteem & identity, relationship issues, difficulties in motherhood, life transitions, attachment and early trauma, and transgenerational trauma. I am particularly interested in the structural power differences that impact people, so I work closely on issues to do with patriarchy, race, culture and more. I also work with a team of therapists who can support clients, including adult families.

I offer a feminist perspective together with the psychoanalytic method of working.
If you are looking for a psychoanalytic psychotherapist who specialises in women's therapy, I have had many years of experience offering psychotherapy to women of all ages and with all emotional difficulties. I have written on body image and provided organisations with presentations on eating disorders: Eating disorders: how to understand, how to help. For over 30 years I have worked with these problems, emotional trauma and personality disorder. I can also help you with a process that can enable you to move forward with life transitions and how you may be able to negotiate change.

I have years of experience working with women, children and young people, having worked for respected charities like Women's Aid, The NSPCC, Kinergy and Off The Record. I’m really passionate about young people and minority groups having their voices heard in my practice and beyond. I adopt a person-centred approach, but I am also informed by Gestalt, Transactional Analysis, and feminist approaches to therapy.
Our mental health is connected with how we feel about ourselves and our life experiences. I offer a safe counselling relationship in which you can better understand these experiences, the challenges and struggles you face, and work out how you can respond. I will work to create a relationship with you in which you can feel safe enough to talk about difficult or painful experiences, thoughts and feelings. I will not judge you, no matter what you need to talk about. My aim is to help you start to connect with and feel differently about yourself. This can lead to greater self-awareness and acceptance.

Feminist Counsellors

How does feminist therapy work?

Feminist therapy sessions are not only personal but often cultural or political in nature, as the approach is based on the belief that people are affected by, and often struggle with, cultural and societal norms and biases, and need to move beyond those external pressures or stressors to tap their own confidence and engage more fully in their own identity. Sessions may therefore include discussions of sexism, diversity, and gender issues and talk of steps toward greater empowerment for patients who believe they have been silenced and seek to raise their voices.

What are examples of feminist therapy techniques?

Along with traditional talk therapy and analysis, a feminist therapist may employ techniques such as role-playing and assertiveness training to help clients build their self-esteem so that they feel they can act freely, and not based on cultural expectations or gender roles dictated by others. A feminist therapist may also engage in bibliotherapy, offering suggested readings on gender identity or social power inequities as they work toward viewing mental-health concerns through a broad cultural lens before focusing on how they affect the individual. Somatic therapy techniques, with an emphasis on body awareness, self-compassion, and mindfulness practices are also often part of feminist therapist practice.

How long does feminist therapy last?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for feminist therapy; people who believe that they are making progress typically continue until they feel they’ve addressed the issues that had been holding them back. It may take some time to become comfortable discussing personal issues, but once a client feels they can do so, they could expect therapy to last for a number of months, typically including at least 12 sessions.

Does feminist therapy work?

As a relatively recent therapeutic technique, there is not yet a body of evidence proving the efficacy of feminist therapy. However, the approach is based on proven core principles of talk therapy, with a particular emphasis on developing a therapeutic relationship based on equality and authentic connection between therapist and client and discovering and building on clients’ personal strengths to help them gain a greater sense of personal power and agency.
