People who no longer have a full hour available for a session due to school closures and/or other family members working from home. People currently self isolating (for what could be as long as 12 weeks for some of us) and possibly suffering with loneliness - split your regular sessions in to halves and have the opportunity to touch base with me twice in one week. Helping to prevent loneliness and also talk through any other anxieties surrounding isolation. People who have never considered talking therapies, but feeling overwhelmed or anxious about the current situation and all sorts of other life problems that continue regardless

People access therapy for many different reasons, but generally we are most likely to reach out for help when our usual coping strategies are no longer effective. At these times it is not always helpful or possible to turn to family or friends, and their well-meaning support may not always help. I will provide a calm and confidential space where you will be able to safely share what is troubling you.

It's not easy being a parent and it's not easy knowing that your child is going through a tough time. You might have noticed that their behaviour has become really difficult to handle and it is putting a strain on family life. Teachers might have noticed this in the classroom too. Sometimes, you might wonder if this is something you are going to have get used to. It doesn't have to be this way. I can help your child and your family have a well-deserved meaningful life, filled with happier memories.

Hi, I'm Nicola, a qualified Person-Centred counsellor. Do you experience times when things just get too much and although you may have a good network of family, friends or colleagues you just need a safe space where you can go to talk, not be judged and know that whatever is spoken about is confidential. Whatever is troubling you may stem from your childhood, a relationship, a traumatic event or something else but whatever it is, this maybe preventing you from living your life to the full. The first step can be daunting, but together we can explore your thoughts, your feelings which will enable you to gain a greater self worth.

There is so much noise all around us. Opinions from family, friends and society on how we should think, act, look and learn are everywhere. It’s easy to lose sight of what you think, what you want, who you actually are. Counselling gives you a time and space to discover what you think and what’s important to you. My ethos is to walk in your world with you in a non judgemental way. We would work together in an atmosphere of trust and mutual respect, unpicking and exploring where the issues stem from. Using a blend of techniques supporting you in finding the understanding and acceptance to move forwards in a happier, healthier way.

I work with clients using techniques from different therapy methods from person centred, behavioural to CBT and solution focused and IFS. My focus is on the person in front of me and where they are at that moment. Any client arrives with an idea of what they want to look at, but the journey that follows is unique and generally directed by the client's needs. The difference can be evident so quickly once we move together towards a clearer understanding of how to move forward from the place the client began - its fulfilling and rewarding for all involved

I work in a person-centred manner which means that I value building a positive relationship with clients; working to create a safe and comfortable therapeutic environment. This means that I want you to feel able to talk and express yourself about anything that may be troubling you. We talk about whatever you chose, and you can do so without fear of judgement. This enables you to become more comfortable with things as you discuss your thoughts freely, giving you an opportunity to consider things from different perspectives and over time building your confidence to explore different options and possibilities that are open to you.

No-one knows you better than you; I am guided by you and what you choose to bring to each session without giving my opinions, guidance, or advice. The therapeutic relationship is a key component of counselling change, and it is hugely important to me that I ensure our therapeutic relationship is built on a foundation of empathy, non-judgement, and respect.

We all struggle to make sense of experiences at times, for example, when our life is in transition as we are leaving home or taking on new caring responsibilities. As a counsellor I can offer the opportunity to talk in confidence. I have worked in mental health for over 20 years and have trained as a social worker as well as a counsellor. Social networks and our sense of connection, can contribute to our emotional resilience and ability to face life's challenges. I can help you find a broader perspective and your own way forward.

Counselling gives you the space to explore your emotions and why you are feeling the way you are. By talking and using strategies to enable you to move forward in a positive way. I adapt my approaches to suit my clients. The first session is an opportunity to paint a picture of how you are coping, how you are managing your emotions, timelines etc and then together we can work on the here and now and the process your feelings. This also gives us the opportunity to build trust. We can take it at your pace.

We all need to talk to someone at times, right now life is extremely difficult for many of us! Talking issues through is often the best way to deal with our conflicting emotions. I specialise in depression, anxiety, and weight management, along with mid-life transitions and relationship counseling. I believe talking to someone totally unconnected to the problem can help clients see their situation through fresh eyes. I use a combination of therapies to help clients restructure their lives and issues. I am based in a private location in South Cheshire. I also have clients based around the globe via video. Discretion is paramount!

I understand how important it is to find a therapist you feel comfortable with, especially at a time when you may be feeling stuck, or struggling with emotions or unhelpful thinking patterns? I offer a warm, compassionate, confidential and non-judgemental approach; a place to offload, perhaps find simple coping strategies, fresh insight, and the greater sense of balance or peace of mind you may seek.

You may have many friends and relations, but find it difficult to talk to them about your most private worries or concerns. If you are looking for someone whose sole relationship with you is to discuss issues causing you stress, or anxiety, or depression then counselling may help. I am a person-centred counsellor, which means I place an emphasis on helping you to build your resilience and confidence when issues arise in your to day to day life. As a counsellor I do not judge your thoughts, feelings or actions, but rather help you to understand these for yourself.

Feeling stuck, struggling to cope or feeling lost in your own head? Life is challenging and it’s not uncommon to experience a loss of meaning and purpose. Family Therapy Counsellors

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
