If you are suffering from depression, anxiety, struggling with difficult thoughts and feelings, or have a personal relationship or family problems.
I am an experienced and grounded psychoanalytic psychotherapist, group analyst and clinical supervisor with over 18 years experience. I work on zoom and face to face. Beginning psychotherapy is an important undertaking and during the initial consultation I can assist you in deciding if this is for you. In my work I recognise the strengths that have enabled people to reach a point in their lives where they can use psychotherapy indiviudally or in a group. Such strengths are identified during our work together and built upon as a part of the psychotherapeutic process . I aim to respond promptly to new enquiries with 24 hours,

Having interned at the Child Institute of Mental Health in London; as well as in an adolescent rehabilitation centre in Dallas, TX specialising in addictions, adolescent sexual abuse and family systems; I offer that net and support in a non-judgemental environment.
A confidential, non-judgmental space where you can explore positive and challenging aspects of your life and any change you wish to explore or make. I have personal experience in sexual, physical, emotional and mental abuse; divorce; living with a Narcissist; step-parenting and living in an Ex-pat community. The approaches I predominantly use are Solution Focused, Bowenian Systemic approach, Brainspotting or Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy (EFP). All approaches work with clients, though I have found 'Walk and Talk' or EFP best for adolescents or those suffering with PTSD or Trauma, along with Brainspotting.

At the heart of my approach to therapy is a belief that the answer to life’s dilemmas is not ‘out there’ but within us. When we start to love and accept ourselves as we are, we can begin to feel more empathy for others, our relationships will improve, and we will find it easier to have the sort of life we want. It is my view that most people could benefit from therapy. It is a space where you can speak your mind without fear of upsetting friends or family. It is a chance to talk over problems with someone who is not going to be judgemental or tell you what to do. It is a place where you can consider your options and make choices.

I work extensively with anxiety, depression, challenging family relationships, identity and low self-esteem.
We are all influenced by the people in our lives and the experiences we have had both past and present, all of which serve to shape and define us. Sometimes we need help in understanding how the culmination of these factors can get in the way of being able to live life fully and with ease. Maybe you're looking for relief from the pain of anxiety or depression. You could be struggling with life changes or loss. You may want a better relationship with yourself and/or those closest to you. I offer a non-judgemental space in which I can help you to explore your feelings, beliefs and patterns of behaviour.

My approach is relational, combining psychodynamic, family and social understandings of the person.
Therapy has the exciting potential to support deep self-understanding and change. The reasons that people give therapy a try are uniquely subjective. Initially perhaps there is a wish to try something new and involves some type of recognition-noticing something that feels tangled, elusive, and a struggle. Especially in group therapy you come to know yourself in ways you didn't before through reflecting with others on experiences in and out of the group. Group therapy can offer deeper insights that can help with figuring out options for change in oneself and in relationships and can bring hope for the future.

I’ve worked with children and young people whose parents had similar concerns and they have learned how to regulate their emotions, grow in confidence and sustain stronger relationships with their family members and peers.
Are you the parent or carer of a young person who is struggling with their emotional wellbeing? Perhaps your child or teen finds it difficult to cope with overwhelming emotions, or maybe they find it difficult to articulate how they’re feeling which is frustrating for you as a parent - you want to support them and simply don’t know how. Does your child find it difficult to maintain relationships with their peers and they don’t know why? Maybe you’re at your wits’ end because no matter how hard you try you feel you cannot get through to your child. I’m here to let you know that therapy can help, you don’t have to do this alone.

Many people now have therapy, for different reasons and from a range of backgrounds. You might be feeling overwhelmed and not wanting to handle difficulties without support anymore; or be feeling confused, conflicted and just need help to understand things more clearly. Therapy provides a safe, confidential and consistent space to start exploring some of the things about ourselves that can be difficult to understand. People come with depression, anxiety, family issues, relationship dynamics, trauma or wanting to understand repeated patterns.

Are you struggling with issues like anxiety, depression, addiction, abuse, loss, or relationships? My approach is compassionate and holistic, incorporating Sensorimotor Psyhotherapy, Internal Family Systems and Emotional Freedom Technique, to treat the somatic, emotional and psychological elements of unresolved trauma. Such symptoms may lie deep within the body, often at an unconscious level, and which traditional talking therapies may fail to address. I value our uniqueness as individuals and believe that we each have an innate capacity for healing and growth. I work with adults and offer both short-term and open-ended work.

Family Therapy Counsellors

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
