At the heart of all my work is a person-centred ethos and my priority is to build a trusting, open and honest relationship which will enable you to experience understanding and feel truly heard, perhaps for the first time in your life.
Suffering with our mental health is very hard to find relief from, finding ourselves going around in circles and losing touch with our previous lifestyle, wondering 'am I ever going to find a way out?' I offer you face-to-face sessions in a nurturing, non-judgemental environment . I work as an Integrative therapist so that your sessions are tailored to your needs. I predominantly draw upon Person Centred Therapy, ACT, CBT and Transactional Analysis to address issues such as: anxiety; trauma; depression/lack of motivation; disturbed sleep; performance/productivity, relationships/social interaction; existential angst/lack of meaning

I am an integrative Psychotherapist who uses various methods and theories from a range of modalities to tailor my style to the individual's needs. I feel that there is no ‘one size fits all’ approach to therapy and that each client must be worked with, in an individual manner. I am influenced by Person-Centred and Psychodynamic concepts in my work, as I like to get to the root cause of what is pertinent for the client at present, whilst always remembering that ‘the client is an expert in their own lives’.

Therapies: Psychodynamic, CBT, Trauma Focused, Family / Marital, Person-Centred , Mindfulness-Based.
I understand that to make that first call or email for counselling can be extremely difficult, the fact you’re here means you’ve taken the first step towards making positive changes in your life. Are you stuck, feeling lost or alone, afraid or upset? I aim to help you to make sense of your fears, worries and anxieties. Many people find it easier to talk to someone who they see as being separate to their life rather than friends or family. I can help you make sense of experiences of the past and resolve complicated feelings linked to these. Therapy can be used to better yourself, allowing you to take complete control of your life.

We all face Challenges and internal conflicts at some point in our lives; there are three solutions to every problem; Accept it, change it or leave it. If you are reading this profile you are probably on the road of wanting change, you don't have to struggle in silence and the time for change is now. The most important ingredient of change is the acknowledgment of the situation.Sometimes it can be very hard to explain what is going on in your head or your heart when you don't even understand it yourself , this is where speaking to someone with decades of experience makes a difference.

I understand how difficult it can be to decide to seek help. This is why I offer a no cost first session to see if you can feel comfortable with me. I am very experienced and approachable and I have helped many people get through difficult times. Anxiety can feel overwhelming. It can lead to physical symptoms of panic, nervous tension, sweating and breathlessness and it can be difficult to think clearly. "What-if" thinking takes over and negativity sets in. I can help you break out of this cycle of doubt by working on restoring your coping skills.

There comes a time when we all need the space to think in a quiet private place. A place to be free, to be heard and to share the deep routed feelings and concerns. Whether you are finding it difficult to understand your thoughts, feelings and behaviours. If you are finding life difficult right now. Having an accepting, non-judgemental and confidential space to explore all of this will allow for a positive mind set as well as an improvement in your overall wellbeing. I am a person-centred counsellor working in an integrative way as not one style of working fits all. I will offer you support and guidance along your personal journey.

As a person-centred therapist my role is to keep you at the centre of your experiences and provide a safe and curious space to explore and identify how your current situation maybe contributing to your distress.
At times in life we all face uncertainty, anxiety, stress and confusion, these emotions are normal. We can experience conflict/anxiety/stress. Sometimes we may know why we are feeling the way we do, other times it comes like a bolt out of the blue. It is not up to me to tell you what to do, how to feel or how to be. With 4 years of counselling and psychotherapy coupled with 20 years of supporting people I can offer you the space where you can bring yourself back to you and use this awareness to move forward with a stronger and clearer sense of self.

Hello, my name is Aneesa and I am a Cognitive and Behavioural Therapy (CBT) therapist, which has a person centred directed approach. This is solution focussed and goal orientated, which means that I will take the time to understand what you want from therapy and my approach will be tailored to meet your desired goals. This is particularly effective in giving you a multitude of tools to manage, understand and change your belief systems and ultimately change your behaviour. The counselling process supports you looking at and focusing on your issues; this way can lead to viewing things differently or changes in behaviour. Depression, anxiety, relationship issues and bereavement are few of the problems Person-Centred therapy can help with, to find ways to progress and find balance in such difficult times. If unresolved trauma is what has brought you to seek counselling, know that counselling will help you get to the resolution you need.

I’m an Integrative Relational Psychotherapist with over 25 years of experience. The essence of my practice is ' person-centred ' in that I am always led by the client's needs as presented to me. In this way 'therapy' is always grounded in the trans-formative power of trusting and collaborative relationships. Our work together should then stand as an open invitation to go beyond our sense of limitation and to help establish a greater sense of well-being, meaningful identity and purpose.

How can I find a therapist in England?

Search for nearby therapists or counsellors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or postcode; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or postcode into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counsellors are all licensed mental health professionals. In many countries, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counsellor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counsellors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counsellor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counselling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
