Feeling SAD, CONFUSED and/or ANGRY? Feeling stuck/trapped? What's the point? Nothing changes? I know the fears of opening up emotionally or mentally. I also know now of how beneficial it is for YOU. To have time to understand your 'self' so that YOU can process and heal, change YOUR future. It's empowering. I have studied for 6 years, to Masters level. Committed to my own personal development. Losing nearly three stone in weight (an emotional eater). Unattached from drinking 5 times a week to now occasionally socially or sometimes I just drink water and ice! Smoking and a fitter body is next. YOU are important! Take control back!

I have a gentle manner but I am able to understand problems. I often work with things other therapists have not been able to help completely and have therapeutic solutions to the most challenging issues. I help you understand how the past impacted you. I use a structured approach so you create therapeutic goals which we work towards during the sessions. RELATIONSHIP COUNSELLING involves having both partners spending time to express their point of view and a joint agreement on how to progress the therapy. I usually set “homework” for both individuals and couples to work on between sessions. DISCOUNTS available for block bookings

I can help people who are experiencing all levels of distress and unhappiness. You may have feelings of dissatisfaction and a sense that you are not getting all that you want in your life. At the other end of the spectrum you may be finding that every day is a real struggle with strong, even overwhelming, feelings of depression, anxiety, stress, anger etc. I believe that all of us want to strive to feel happier and more fulfilled than we currently are. We want to feel a connection with other people and to have a sense that we are leading meaningful, enjoyable lives - even when at times we feel at a loss as to how to achieve this.

There is no question life is stressful - especially at this time. We are all looking at the new ‘normal’ wondering how we got here.. It is normal for there to be an increase in depression and anxiety right now, but the good news is that help is available. You do not have to struggle alone. We all need a neutral, non-judgmental person to talk things through with. I believe that knowing you are not alone, and having that safe place to express your fears, or uncover how the past influences you today, is essential for mental health.

No matter what brings you to therapy, it is important. You might be finding that distressing thoughts or feelings are getting in the way. Or perhaps you experience numerous unpleasant physical symptoms. Emotional response is a normal response, but understandably, it can be unpleasant, and might feel uncertain what to do when it happens. Sometimes we all need a bit support and guidance; we don't have to deal with everything on our own, especially when it gets tough. I offer evidence-based therapies within a context of kind, supportive therapeutic relationship. I currently work for mental health organizations and in private practice.

Have a safe space to express your feelings and learn techniques to observe, identify and work on the factors that may be affecting your emotional well-being. Learn to establish healthy and constructive relationships with others and with yourself. Work on self-compassion and acceptance to start focusing on the things that matter to you now. Learn to manage your anxiety so it doesn't define or control your life anymore. Increase your self-awareness and observe the circumstances that may trigger your discomfort and find alternative coping strategies for similar situations.

Abuse begins when someone who you are supposed to be able to trust begins to manipulate you, to accept mistreatment or their warped version of 'love'. I know the hurt you are experiencing and it has probably left you feeling confused, unsure of what "really" happened and this is a perfectly normal trauma response. You may be experiencing feelings of isolation and stress, self-doubt, low confidence. It may already be making it difficult for you to form relationships or causing relationship breakdown and psychical illnesses. This can happen several years after the incident. Let's have a conversation and change that!

I know how difficult it is to find a therapist you can trust for help with your emotional and psychological difficulties. Sometimes our suffering is concealed from friends, family or colleagues because we are good at hiding it but deep inside, we are left feeling far from happy, fulfilled or content. At other times our difficulties are more noticeable. I am passionate about helping people live better lives. I help them discover what matters to them, what type of person they want to be and how they would like to behave. Once their values are clarified I help them make sustainable changes towards the things that are important to them.

How can I find a therapist in England?

Search for nearby therapists or counsellors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or postcode; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or postcode into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counsellors are all licensed mental health professionals. In many countries, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counsellor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counsellors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counsellor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counselling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
