"Having walked a certain path, as a Christian , my Faith in God and leaning on Him has been the greatest pillar I ever held on to experiencing my own post-traumatic growth. However, I value individual differences, respect, diversity, culture, integrity, honesty and ability to find your own path, grow, connect and build an enduring relationship. I firmly believe individuals can be empowered to find their own solutions. I am aware I might not have all the answers or solutions, but I could give one or two suggestions. I am happy to sit with people who find themselves in a dilemma, stuck in difficult and uncomfortable situations".

I offer counselling for adults & adolescents, I also offer therapy from a Christian perspective.
Hello and Welcome, Life has indeed become complex. Many of us are now struggling with our mental health in ways that are no longer manageable. Our past and present hurts, our unprocessed feelings have risen to the surface. We find ourselves thinking, feeling and acting in ways that do not reflect who we want to be. Some of us have Grief, Trauma or Addiction that we just can’t seem to work through. As a Senior Accredited Psychotherapist with a Master Degree and EMDR Accredited, I've seen thousands come through my door, with various presenting issues and undergo genuine transformation, healing and leave with hope for the future.

As a psychotherapist accredited with the Association of Christian Counsellors, I am keen to help Christians address any spiritual dilemma, gaining a holistic perspective of their mental well-being.
Life today seems to be overloaded by a variety of stress in many spheres of existence. What should be enjoyable and fulfilling sometimes turns out to be the very cause of suffering. In the midst of the busy-ness of life, we do not take the time to address this suffering and instead criticise and blame ourselves. This could potentially leave us feeling confused and ashamed. Moreover shame does not heal the pain of suffering. Every human being has a need to be understood, accepted and validated because the human brain is wired for love. It is love that stimulates neurons and helps connect with other neurons in the brain.

Are you struggling to cope with life and the overwhelming pressures that it may pose? Perhaps you simply want a better life, better relationships or a better job? Our current worldwide situation is challenging, overwhelming and uncertain and the way in which we respond to these challenges can be difficult and overwhelming. By giving yourself the time and space to share your worries, in a safe and open way, can help you to make the positive changes you want to see in your life.

As a practicing Christian , I take a holistic view of human beings, and take a particular interest in spiritual depression, failure and the Christian and obstacles to spiritual growth.
If you have got this far you probably have an inkling that to talk about what is troubling you might help. Why not give it a try? Perhaps you are wondering how it works. The short answer is we work together to make connections between your past experience and your present life. It is as we become more aware of these connections that change can flourish. Why not take a step of faith and see where "talking about it" gets you?

Therapeutic services ranges from DBT,Complex trauma, Behavioural therapy- Anxiety, Depression, Anger management, Abuse, Inner child trauma therapy, Couples and relationship counselling, Substance and Addiction abuse, Christian counselling or Spiritual and Holistic Care.
My role, as a psychodynamic therapist, is to provide an environment that is confidential and safe. This is why I do what I do. I provide an outside perspective to help you understand how your past influences present behaviours; your use of defences to avoid reality and awareness of how unconscious reoccurrence operates in your life. With your assistance my aim is to develop different strategies in making better choices to existing problems and explore beliefs of past feelings, memories. This doesn’t mean all your life is broken, but certain grey areas compromising the relationships you’re having with self and others.

I am a Christian .
I am a Clinical Psychologist with 15 years post qualified experience in the NHS. I am experienced in using psychological therapies to help individuals, couples, families and older people presenting with a wide range of mental health distress. I am interested in issues around self esteem/identity/culture, childhood neglect, trauma, difficult relationships, mood problems and managing long term health conditions. I also work with adults with ASD/ADHD. In addition to working with distress I offer ‘life reflection’ sessions for individuals who just need a space to ‘pause’ and think about their wellbeing, and for self development.

What's the closest crocodile to your canoe? In other words, what's worrying you? Is there something feeling overwhelming that keeps you from going where you want to on your journey through life? That's your crocodile. Thankfully though, a canoe is a 2-person boat. At Canoe Counselling, I join you as a guide and help, to go at your pace, in the direction you want, for as long as we choose. Person-Centred therapy holds the idea of relationship at the very centre of the work we do together - I may offer suggestions and guidance, and will support you to the best of my ability, but ultimately you are the one who gets us there!

I am a Christian working in a person centred way.
Life is overwhelming at times and it's just good to talk about what's going on. I like to work with you to find your own answers, to understand what is going on for you. We don't always know what we are thinking or feeling until we say it out loud. In order to do that you need to be able to trust who you are talking to. Nobody likes feeling judged or being told what to do!

I offer acceptance, respect, and a safe, confidential place for you to be heard, and to figure out answers to the questions and problems you’re struggling to cope with. I also offer counselling to young people and adults with themes relating to the Christian faith and spirituality; this may be anything from needing an empathetic space to explore your faith, to experiences of spiritual abuse.
I offer friendly and down to earth counselling for young people (11yrs+) and adults, as well as supervison for counsellors and trainees. I specialise in working with anxiety, panic attacks, trauma, flashbacks, abuse, suicidal thoughts, and sexual violence. However, this does not mean you have had to experience any of these to have counselling. It may be that you feel a bit down, or you've had a loss, a change in circumstance, or a difficult relationship, or want to reflect on your life. There are so many reasons to get counselling and you don’t have to wait until it all feels a bit ‘too much’.

During these times, it is helpful to talk to someone who is really listening, who can come alongside you, help you to make sense of what you're feeling, and help you to find your way through. I work with young people (16+) and adults.

How can I find a therapist in England?

Search for nearby therapists or counsellors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or postcode; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or postcode into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counsellors are all licensed mental health professionals. In many countries, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counsellor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counsellors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counsellor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counselling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
