I have training in and draw upon, Compassion-Focused & ACT Therapies, Mindfulness , NET, and Long-Term Health conditions, such as Fibromyalgia.
Struggling with repetitive emotional patterns, & wanting to understand yourself more? Taking that step to be vulnerable, and actively seek meaningful change is courageous. From my extensive experience I emulate trustworthiness & efficacy of the NHS & evidenced therapies, without restrictions/ criteria. Therapy is: empowering & enabling you to become your own therapist. I create a safe, genuine & non-judgmental space to together explore your agenda, at your pace. Typically, we meet for 50 minute appointments & lasting between 8-20 sessions. I maintain Continuing Professional Development and ethical practice as evidenced by the BABCP.

I can also work in an integrative way which includes using CBT skills, Mindfulness and faith-based counselling.
Be a lamp, or a lifeboat, or a ladder. Help someone's soul heal'. (Rumi). As a therapist, for me this sums up counselling in one short sentence, which is helping and facilitating the healing process. I am a fully qualified person-centred, and integrative therapist. I offer safe, non-judgemental, confidential therapy for you to explore your concerns and issues. Having a non-judgemental and supportive manner is essential in the work I do with people. I feel this allows people to be more comfortable within the process of therapy and allows them to safely explore the issues they are bringing to therapy.

I'll then pinpoint the things that simply can be practised (queue me geeking out over neuroplasticity), while staying 'present in the present' ( mindfulness etc.
I am a Person-Centred/humanistic therapist, focus strongly on the emotional and relational, on the validating bond. My therapy space is one of safety and acceptance. No value judgements. No pathologizing. And from you: no more beating up! Indeed, I wholeheartedly will support your right to fuck up. You're a human-being, a Mensch. This is how we learn, by slipping up. I'll then focus on what lead to the slipping and any other obstructions that stand between you and a happier/more fulfilled you, then will explore ways with you to tackle these, through everyday little positive actions. All das übrigens gerne auch auf deutsch!

As an integrative practitioner, the range of approaches I use include: Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT); Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT); Attachment-based Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy; Mindfulness Interventions; Family Therapy; and Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT).
I have worked as a therapist for many years and enjoy helping people make sense of their experiences. I value hearing each person's story and supporting them to find inner calm, understanding, and change unhelpful patterns of thinking, behaving and relating to others. There are many reasons why people seek therapy and would like someone to talk to. I have specialist interest and experience in working with a variety of difficulties, primarily depression, anxiety, OCD, low self-esteem, relationship issues and insecure attachment styles. I am experienced in working with people of all ages, as well as couples, families and groups.

"You, yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection". (Siddhartha Gautama). I work with couples and individuals to help foster and understanding and self awareness, which can lead to choices and paths that may not otherwise be seen. I endeavour to help people find their true voice and inner worth that doesn't rely on outside influences and factors, but can remain strong and in balance - not matter what life has in store. In my work with couples, I try to foster a positive atmosphere that recognises the many external and historical factors that can distort even the best of relationships.

I am an experienced counsellor who uses an integrated approach that brings together elements of different therapies including CBT, Mindfulness and my core Psychodynamic training which helps to unravel earlier experiences and understand their deep rooted feelings.
I offer a Counselling service to individuals, young people and families who may be facing personal difficulties and challenges. We all experience painful events and losses at various times in our lives and Counselling creates a safe containing space for clients to explore and process their emotions on a range if issues that may be impacting on them negatively. This can help clients to identify their triggers which may be responsible for creating the emotional and or physical distress. It also helps develop some strategies for clients to have at their disposal to manage better the impacts of the distress being experienced.

The CBT approach is ACT (Acceptance and Commitment therapy): directly for overcoming anxiety via homework tasks (journalling alongside mindfulness exercises of present moment) so when it happens, you ACT differently, changing it.
How do you choose a therapist? Personal recommendations are invaluable and, also, your individual needs might be different. My endeavour is to facilitate your self awareness as well as your awareness of others and situations. Whichever modality of therapy you choose our work together gently directs your awareness to ‘what is happening but, also, to ‘how you are viewing and applying yourself’ when in difficulty. This can be radically different to many ‘non directive’ therapies and can involve real change quite quickly! Is your need to over achieve and be perfect causing you to procrastinate on taking that next step in your career? Are you plagued with constant self doubt? Initial Consultation Making sure you feel comfortable is my main priority, so you are always free to give me a call before booking your first therapy session. Please don’t hesitate to share your concerns or ask any questions during this chat. Therapy, after all, is a two-way process, and the more you put into it, the more you get out. I will also walk you through what to expect from our sessions together and, if you wish, provide you with a copy of the Ethical Principles on which my practice is built ahead of scheduling your first assessment session. This assessment session involves us looking at your history and broader issues.

How can I find a therapist in England?

Search for nearby therapists or counsellors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or postcode; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or postcode into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counsellors are all licensed mental health professionals. In many countries, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counsellor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counsellors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counsellor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counselling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
