I am a humanistic integrative counsellor which means I am able to work creativly and with flexibility depending on your needs.
Hello, I'm Basia Louise. I'm an experienced Counsellor/Psychotherapist and a member of BACP with a private practice in Newton Abbot. I also volunteer with DCCP a not for profit counselling agency. I believe one of the most important aspect in counselling, is first, in choosing the person you'll do your best work with and then in the building of that theraputic relationship of trust. I offer an open, caring, safe and non judgemental space where I help people get to the root of what is causing their problems and support them in discovering ways to change their lives for the better.

Integrating psychodynamic and humanistic psychotherapy allows me to use evidence based interventions for talking therapies.
You may be very clear on what you want from therapy, in which case I can offer a place to explore, clarify, understand, observe, feel or identify strategies to support .Or you may feel very fuzzy about what you need, but know things are not right, or that you are struggling. Part of my role here would be to help you untangle the things impacting on you and to find out what you would need to thrive and feel clear.

Welcome to my page. I’m Leela. How brave of you for showing up for yourself and having made the decision of taking the first steps towards a change. Many people come to counselling for different reasons including myself when I sent a text to a “therapist” about 12 years ago when my transformative personal journey began. In my counselling work today, I aim to support you to make more conscious decisions and choices about your life and embody the unique being you are. I celebrate the differences and my life has been enriched by interacting with different cultures, religions, race, beliefs, age, gender and sexual orientation, etc.

As an integrative therapist my work incorporates different approaches across counselling and psychotherapy. This means I can tailor your therapy sessions to your needs, and your individual situation. The techniques I use are predominantly from psychodynamic, person-centred, cognitive behavioural, and humanistic models. My role is to provide a non-judgmental, empathetic space for you to verbalise and explore your story. My work is integrative, this means working with a combination of cognitive, humanistic , psychodynamic, and existential techniques.
I work with you; your experiences, feelings, concerns, anxieties, challenges, hopes, and potential. My approach helps you to recognise when feelings are out of balance with experiences and make changes accordingly. My work aims to help you find a way that you can understand and use to navigate life's challenges through working relationally to better understand your own potential. Prior to qualifying as a counsellor I worked in executive and leadership positions helping me to understand the struggles and stress associated with a demanding and insecure workplace.

My approach is pluralistic and informed by Humanistic / Gestalt therapy.
Has someone close to you died suddenly and unexpectedly? Do you feel like your world has been turned upside down? You may be struggling and gotten ‘stuck’ with unexpressed intense feelings of grief. You may be feeling overwhelmed with emptiness, sadness, despair and depression at one moment and then the next anxious, angry and guilty. You may also be feeling quite isolated and misunderstood by other people. Maybe that has brought you here looking for a confidential and non- judgemental space where you can, cry, shout, talk through, reflect and remember.

I work with adults of all ages and and older children in most areas, please do get in touch and we can have an initial meeting to see if we are the right fit for one another - as, in the Humanistic - ‘Person Centred’ therapy which I practice, it is very much the relationship which can bring about healing and change.
The aim of counselling is to promote healing and assist clients to take the next steps forward in their lives. Whether the issues stem from unresolved historic life events, acute trauma such as bereavement, separation or abuse or general depression and anxiety. Counselling can help a client to find their way when feeling lost, with the support of a reliable, benevolent and empathic person by their side who can gently challenge, encourage exploration and hold the client through their journey.

Online Counsellors
Online counselling is a good solution for people who do not have access to well-qualified clinical professionals in their area or who live remotely or abroad. We also refer to it as Teletherapy, online therapy or skype therapy: in short, it's simply conducting a clinical therapy session using a video or phone as the means of communicating.

It's an excellent solution for those who are immobile or find it more convenient to conduct therapy in the privacy of their own home. Or are agoraphobic (fearful of leaving their home), but still want counselling.

If you're looking for online counselling in England or for an England online therapist these professionals provide online therapy, skype therapy and video treatment.
