Whatever you are facing in life, particularly in these challenging times, counselling can help you heal and grow. Counselling is not just about the 'problem', that is, what you present in therapy, but more about your self awareness and personal development, your own personal self growth. Anxiety, depression, addictions, personal relationships, low
self esteem
, intrusive thoughts, overthinking, to name but a few, are all cumulative of your own life experiences from a very young age. Counselling explores this, and as a professional Integrative therapist, together, we can work towards healing old wounds. Encouraging life in presence.

Hi my names Gen, I specialise in anxiety, relationships and low
self esteem
counselling. If you feel that you are struggling with any of theses issues or just need someone to talk to, I can help you to explore these things and look at how we can move forward and work through them. We will take the time to explore what you have been dealing with and look at different ways of how therapy can help you. I will listen to your needs and adapt our sessions so that you feel comfortable enough to discuss anything you’d like too.

My Clients over the last 18 years have ranged from having simple symptoms ( i.e. sleep disturbances, anxiety about interviews or social anxiety ) to severe symptoms (i.e. severe depression, insomnia, PTSD, OCD, Borderline Personality or sexual abuse). My clients are looking for tools that will help them reduce or eliminate those symptoms but they are also wanting to develop long term functional habits that will help them lead a healthier life. Some of my clients are highly functional but they are struggling with emotional issues in their relationships with childhood abuse, addictions, fears, self-esteem and others.

I'm here to help you get different results. Whether you're experiencing stress, depression, anxiety, anger or low self-esteem, we can work it out - sometimes within just 4 to 6 sessions. Maybe you've already identified some repeating patterns in your life that lead you where you don't want - or like - to be; maybe you feel like a puppet on strings, knowing unseen forces are pulling you but unable to identify quite what they are and thus break free? I'll work with you on your behavioural patterns, starting with identifying them (either you can explain them to me or we can identify them together) then looking at their sources and identifying ways of breaking free of them.

I know choosing an anonymous counsellor just from a few words and a photo on a screen can be unnerving and it may be difficult to feel like you are making an informed decision, so I want our initial consultation to be an opportunity for you to make sure I am the right person for you to work with and for me to make sure I have to experience and expertise to work with you. After this consultation, there is no requirement or expectation for you to book another session and I will always be guided by you, what you want and what you need.

You may be experiencing perimenopause or menopause symptoms, recently bereaved, having relationship difficulties, experiencing depression, low self-esteem & confidence or maybe you can’t pinpoint what’s brought about your stress & anxiety, feeling helplessness or being stuck. It's alright not to have the answers or to find it difficult to make sense of emotions you are experiencing, yet having a trusting and safe environment, may be the right place for you, to share, talk through and explore what’s on your mind.

I work with women who don’t feel ‘good enough’ to realise their worth and discover their true confidence. Are you overwhelmed by life? Filled with anxiety and constantly waste your energy worrying you’re not good enough or disappointing people? Maybe you can’t quite put your finger on what the problem is, but you know something isn’t quite right. Perhaps you’ve even lost your sense of who you are. You don’t have to feel like this. When life feels too much, we all need a helping hand. Let me be that helping hand. Together we can work towards confidence, calmness, self-esteem and improved relationships in every area of your life.

When it’s not always possible to chat to a friend or loved one about personal issues counselling can be really helpful. Using a warm and down to earth style my sessions will use techniques to help discover the underlying symptoms, using a non direct approach. This will allow us to explore any issues you have, develop ways to overcome them, and move forward positively at a pace that feels right for you. As a fully qualified counsellor I offer help if you suffer emotional from problems with low
self esteem
, relationships, work related stress, abuse, child related issues, abandonment, drug abuse and addiction, amongst many others.

Therapy offers an important step in discovering the world around us and finding our place in it. For some people, coming to therapy is a big step. It can take courage to identify a need to heal, recover or progress. My approach aims to ensure that you feel safe in the knowledge that you can trust the therapeutic process. Maintaining the core values of empathy, unconditional positive regard for you as well as congruence (being authentic), I also use other modes of therapy.

I also work with those struggling with social anxiety/
self esteem
particularly introverted personalities.
Do you wake up anxious, stressed and dread the beginning of each new day? Are you feeling overwhelmed from taking care of everyone else’s needs and feel guilty if you take time for yourself? Do you often feel that everyone else’s problems are greater than yours and don’t speak out about your own difficulties but will happily listen and support friends when they need help? Perhaps you feel that your work / life balance is out of control but just don't know where to start? Working together I will help you create healthier habits, feel better about yourself and learn techniques to feel more in control to begin enjoying life again.

How can I find a therapist in England?
Search for nearby therapists or counsellors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or postcode; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or postcode into the search bar.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counsellors are all licensed mental health professionals. In many countries, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counsellor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counsellors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counsellor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counselling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
