Life often leaves us feeling like outsiders—whether we are navigating the shifts of midlife and menopause, the complexities of exploring our identity, or the weight of trauma and shame. You might feel "stuck" in patterns that once protected you but now leave you feeling lonely or disconnected. You don’t have to navigate this alone. Let’s look at what’s happening, together. My approach is Relational Gestalt: a warm, experiential, and a deeply inclusive way of working. Rather than focusing on labels or diagnoses, we focus on you. We’ll pay attention to the "here and now," exploring how you relate to yourself and the world around you.

I appreciate that it can feel difficult in asking for help and to put trust in someone you have never met, especially with often upsetting and difficult issues. It can feel like we may have somehow failed or its a last resort in trying to resolve difficulties. I have helped many people like yourself, who also felt unsure initially on what to expect and feelings of trepidation or embarrassment in asking for help. I believe that the therapeutic relationship between counsellor and client is all important to be effective in addressing the issues and helping you to make the changes that you want and to get things back on track.

Welcome to my profile and thank you for stopping by. I’m guessing you’re here because you think it might be time to tackle your problems... you're tired of how things are and it's time for positive change. Having worked therapeutically with people since 1999, I have lots of experience of treating a whole range of issues, and have supported many people to achieve the health and well-being they always dreamed of. Sometimes it’s hard to believe that change is possible, particularly if the problem’s been around for a long time. I’m here to tell you that, with our mutual hard work and dedication, it really is within your reach.

You’re successful on paper, but inside you’re exhausted.
Many women in leadership find themselves struggling with self doubt, an inner critic that never switches off, or the fear of being found out.
Burnout and exhaustion can creep in when you’re expected to excel at work while also holding everything together at home. Past experiences of being overlooked or underestimated may resurface in the workplace, leaving you second guessing your voice or decisions. And the constant balancing act between ambition and wellbeing or resilience and vulnerability can leave you feeling depleted, stretched thin, and alone.

I offer a supportive space to explore and make sense of whatever you are struggling with. It may be an experience of being out of place or being out of step, and feelings of overwhelm, sadness and frustration - whatever brought you to therapy will be our starting point for working together - also if you cannot exactly put into words what has made you search for a therapist. I value the unique rhythm and pace of exploration of each individual and I am committed to creating a trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and inclusive space.

Early experiences, when we had no choice or voice, shape our Nervous system patterns. Although they were vital at the time, we unconsciously 'repeat' out-of-date Survival Strategies, leading us to feel helpless, hopeless, cynical, embarrassed, defeated or stuck. We might feel disconnected from ourselves and others. Part of us might long for more intimacy and another Part of us may also fear it. The connection and communication between body-brain-mind may have been disrupted or compromised, and even if we cognitively know that our patterns limit us, making and sustaining changes can be too tricky to achieve on our own.

Sex-Positive, Kink Allied Counsellors
Why might an individual want to see a sex-positive, kink-allied therapist?
A sex-positive or kinky individual may want to see a sex-positive, kink-allied therapist because the client may feel safer and more supported discussing their experiences and challenges. A therapist who identifies as kink-friendly will have experience with clients having diverse sexual preferences and will likely be nonjudgmental and supportive about issues brought to the table. It is important to note that sex-positive, kink-allied individuals may find equal success with therapists who do not have such specialised knowledge and background. The most important factor in the success of therapy is for the client and practitioner to form a strong, trusting bond.
Do therapists have special training to gain expertise in sex-positive, kink-allied treatment?
Generally, no. There are limited training programs and unofficial accreditations that therapists can pursue, but a therapist’s expertise will ultimately come from their previous experience with similar clients, their engagement with organisations that promote sex positivity or kink-allied lifestyles, and the importance they place on safety and cultural sensitivity.
How can individuals recognise a good sex-positive, kink-allied therapist?
An experienced therapist is able to help clients explore their sexual identity and expression and relieve any discomfort or stigma attached to discussing such matters and the client’s overall challenges. A therapist who is sex-positive and kink-allied is able to create an environment that honors a client’s experience and sexual preferences. To recognise a good therapist, clients can simply ask directly about topics and issues important to them and gauge their comfort level and connection with a clinician based on the responses.
Can clients benefit from having a therapist with a focus on sex positivity and alternative sexual lifestyles?
Some individuals may feel most comfortable knowing that the clinician they’re working with has a commitment to creating an atmosphere of sex positivity and has experience with relationship diversity and alternative relationship structures. Working with a sex-positive, kink-allied therapist may help clients respect their own challenges and improve identity-affirming treatment.
