We are all products of our upbringing and experiences and sometimes this can lead to difficulties and struggles in the present. You do not need to face these problems on your own. We can work together to unravel what this is about and help you find new ways to cope and move forwards. We can talk or use creative methods to facilitate this discovery process. I work with young people, adults and couples and the work is all driven by you and on your terms. I offer a free, initial meeting so you can decide if I am the right Counsellor for you. I also offer Clinical Supervision for other Professional Counsellors and Trainees.

As well as allowing clients to talk through their feelings, I have also employed creative techniques including free drawing, letter writing, poetry and songwriting, play scriptwriting and sand tray work. I am trained in Clinical Supervision and EMDR, both of which I find are powerful methods of working.

My clients look like they’re coping. They appear capable and responsible, sometimes highly successful, yet privately they are often anxious, disconnected, self-critical or exhausted. Some carry complex trauma or PTSD; some deep sorrow, grief and others just know something doesn’t feel right. Many have learned to be the strong one. They don’t just want symptom relief — they want to understand their patterns, feel calmer, build steadier relationships and feel at home in who they truly are. They want the opportunity of a therapeutic relationship that will help them heal from their emotional wounds and unburden themselves.

What do you need? It is sometimes helpful to ask yourself - "What are my main goals as I go for counselling? What is important to me right now? How would I like to change?" Often all someone needs is some quality time and space to be able to be themselves, and be heard - not feeling judged no matter what they say, and feel some compassion from somebody who cares. In the busy and sometimes harsh world in which we live, I provide that space for you to come as you are, work with your expressed goals, rediscover a new way forward, and deal with the problems you are experiencing. Often people find a positive change in this scenario.

I am a fully qualified Counsellor and Coach who has a range of experience from working with children and young people to adults ranging from 18-60+. I provide a safe environment where you can come and explore any issues or feelings you have, without the fear of being judged or told what to do. I believe we all have the tools to solve our own problems or at least find some acceptance around them; sometimes things are just too hazy and jumbled to see clearly. In my own experience I have found that having the space to explore what is going on with another human being outside your personal life can work wonders. I am not saying I can

Life can be hard, and you don't have to navigate it all alone. If you are feeling lost, anxious, sad, depressed or life is okay but you have a sense that there is something not quite right, talking with me may help. You may be feeling exhausted from trying to fit in, feeling too much, not enough or constantly misunderstood.. Maybe you are having difficulty enjoying life, suffering from recurring negative or intrusive thoughts, or struggling with relationships?...or parenting feels overwhelming? I’m a late-diagnosed AuDHD woman, whose own life experiences have inspired me to train as a psychotherapeutic counsellor.

Dissociative Disorders (DID) Counsellors
How does therapy for dissociative disorders work?
Dissociation may be triggered by stress or other upsetting circumstances, and therapy can address the traumatic events at the core of an individual’s dissociation. Understanding why a person may dissociate can help the therapist and the individual come up with alternative methods of coping. A person with a dissociative disorder may get stuck on negative thinking, for example, and treatment like Cognitive behavioural therapy is a gold standard for breaking such thinking. And dialectical behaviour therapy, for example, can help a person manage their anguish through better emotion regulation.

Which therapies are best for dissociative disorders?
Specific approaches used by professionals include cognitive behavioural, dialectical behaviour, psychodynamic, schema therapies, among others. Cognitive behavioural and dialectical behaviour therapies are two widely used therapies that can help individuals with painful memories and past traumas. These therapies work to integrate an individual's different identities into one person.

Are there specific medications for dissociation?
There are no specific medications prescribed for dissociative disorders. However, psychosis, depression, anxiety, and/or panic often co-occur in dissociative disorders. A psychiatrist may prescribe medications for any accompanying symptom which may include antipsychotics, antidepressants, or anti-anxiety drugs.

How often and how long are therapy sessions?
Like any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual. Patients may see improvement within 15 to 20 sessions, at an average of 50 minutes per session, others may opt for 20 to 30 sessions over, perhaps, a six-month period. There are still other patients, especially those who have co-occurring conditions like depression and anxiety, who may need to continue sessions for up to 12 to 18 months.
