Hello, I am a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, fully accredited and registered with the UKCP. My approach is integrative, which means that I can draw on a range of therapeutic theories and methods to best support each child and young person's needs. When a child or young person is finding things difficult, building a trusting therapeutic relationship is really important. This creates a safe foundation where growth can happen and their distress begins to ease.

There are moments when life feels tough — stress, worry or unexpected changes can leave us overwhelmed or unsure. Sometimes we’re facing things we didn’t expect, or situations we never asked for. I believe that people already carry a great deal of strength and resilience within them but maybe you feel that you have used these all up and don't know what to do now? My role is to walk alongside you as we gently explore and make sense of what's been happening and help you discover that small, meaningful changes can make a BIG difference in supporting you to move on, achieve your goals and develop your full potential.

A warm welcome to you. If loss, anxiety, relationship trauma or struggles with neurodivergence have led you to be looking on this site for help, then I want to start by offering my compassion and affirmation.  You've taken the first step. You might be looking from one counsellor to another, wondering who to choose. I hope you feel reassured and grounded by my profile. The way you and I would work together would of course be led by you and your needs, but as a highly trained counsellor, I always hold your relationships at the core of my person-centred working style.

Seeking help takes courage. Feelings of anxiety, confusion and isolation can be overwhelming and acknowledging you need help is a brave first step. I hope to offer a warm and gentle space that encourages you to be open with your thoughts and feelings; to be able to speak about what is on your mind without fear of judgement. Building trust can be scary, so having a safe space is important. Together, we’ll look at and explore your difficulties, so that we may begin to understand them better. We might think about negative thoughts and emotions, reflect on past or present relationships, and consider your place in the world.

Feeling lost, overwhelmed or like you should be coping better? Life might look fine on the outside but inside you may feel exhausted, stuck or unsure who to turn to. Maybe you’re juggling responsibilities, managing health concerns or facing a major life transition. Perhaps you're struggling in personal or family relationships, feeling weighed down by self-doubt, feeling anxious, grieving or carrying the emotional load of parenting a child with Autism, ADHD or other additional needs. I offer a warm & non-judgmental space where you can offload, explore your feelings and begin to understand what’s really going on beneath the surface.

I work with deep thinkers and sensitive souls who’ve often felt different, misunderstood, or “othered.” You may struggle with identity, belonging, or long-standing patterns with food, bingeing, restricting, avoiding, over-exercising, or purging, that once helped you cope but no longer bring relief. You might be exploring ADHD, autism, OCD, BPD, or CPTSD, or feel that previous therapy didn’t quite reach the root of things. You’re seeking clarity, depth, and a way forward that finally makes sense for you.

Do you struggle with managing your emotions, feeling overwhelmed by intense emotions, or shut down and disconnected? Have you been told you’re too sensitive? You might feel things deeply, be affected by others’ moods, or feel ashamed of how you respond emotionally. You may wonder whether you'll ever feel truly worthy or confident. These difficulties can affect your daily life and relationships, perhaps leading to anxiety, withdrawal or feeling misunderstood. Coping by bottling things up, or ‘just getting on with it’ may have helped, but now you're ready to take the next step towards living fully and forming meaningful relationships.

Hi, I'm Chloe. I have a small practice in Belper (Derbyshire) as well as online, seeing clients across the country. Some of my clients I am currently working with, are exploring topics such as: neurodiversity (self or professionally diagnosed) work-related stress, sexuality and bereavement. I love working with clients to explore power and have noticed lots of clients exploring themes of finding their voice establishing boundaries, particularly with parents as they enter adulthood. I have an interest on working with women experiencing body-image issues, challenges surrounding weight loss and bariatric surgery.

Female Counsellors

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
