I’m a trauma‑aware counsellor and relationship counsellor based in Worksop, offering gentle, steady support for people living with the emotional after‑effects of difficult or overwhelming experiences, as well as couples and individuals navigating relationship strain, disconnection, or communication difficulties. Trauma can show up as anxiety, numbness, hypervigilance, exhaustion, or feeling disconnected from yourself or others. Relationship challenges often emerge alongside these experiences. My approach is warm, grounded, and relational — we go at your pace, with no pressure or judgement. I have experience in hospice care, GP's

Each of us has a life story peppered with struggles and challenges that we are not always equipped to deal with by ourselves. Therapy can help understand your difficulties, reviewing the moment with new perspectives and clarity, to know more about yourself, realising solutions or coping strategies. There are many reasons for considering therapy and I work with a wide range of challenges resulting from Trauma, PTSD, Bereavement, Depression, Anxiety, Relationships, Neurodiversity issues. Counselling can help if you feel stuck and unable to reach your full potential or having difficulty coming to terms with major life changes.

Hello – you’re in the right place. Reaching out is hard, but you don’t have to go through this alone. I help adults dealing with anxiety, low mood, or life feeling too heavy to manage. You don’t need things figured out before coming to counselling—just a sense that things could feel better. I won’t just nod and sigh blankly or tell you what to do. Counselling is a two-way exchange to help you feel heard and not judged. My role is to listen and help you make sense of your feelings so you can move forward. Over time, we’ll work together to build your self-acceptance and confidence.

As a person centred counsellor I understand that all client's are different and I meet the client precisely where they are at. This provides a starting point for where they may feel stuck and need assistance. Having built up a great deal of life experience over the years I feel I understand how difficult life can be sometimes. It’s important to recognise that you aren’t alone and when you can’t see the path, that there is empathy and a compassionate place in my therapy services to realise what needs to change. This change can sometimes feel scary but by talking it through with the right person things can improve for the better.

In 2015, when I qualified as a psychotherapist, I remember saying to my tutor, "I believe in all the theories. What kind of therapist do I need to become?" His answer was simple: "Integrative." He explained that being an integrative therapist wasn't simply about learning different theories. It meant continually exploring my own life, remaining open to new research and never stopping learning. I committed to that journey because I believed something very strongly: How could I ask clients to look deeply at themselves if I wasn't willing to do the same?

Are you feeling emotionally overwhelmed, burnt out or stuck in patterns that no longer serve you? I work with adults of all genders; women, men and non-binary folk. Those people who are usually seen as strong and capable but inside, things feel heavier than they let on. Maybe it’s grief, stress or just that quiet sense of not really feeling like yourself. Many of my clients are dealing with: • ADHD in adulthood, often undiagnosed or newly discovered • Anxiety and overthinking, especially in high-functioning people • Relationship issues, boundary fatigue and people-pleasing • Grief, and emotional numbness • Feeling lost or burnt out

FAQ - About Therapy for Seniors
Is one ever too old for mental health therapy?
Individuals of all ages can benefit from mental health therapy. Indeed, older adults in particular may benefit from the social and psychological support a therapist can provide; the topics that older adults address in therapy may simply differ from those of younger clients. Seniors should seek out a therapist who has experience working with older individuals and who is well-versed in addressing common concerns among elderly individuals, such as depression, anxiety, loneliness, and physical mobility challenges.

How is counselling for elderly different from counselling for other age groups?
In general, counselling offers an opportunity for clients to process difficult life events and develop coping skills they can use outside of the therapy session. Therapists who specialise in working with elderly clients generally have the same framework but may place a special emphasis on specific topics, such as caregiver relationships and reducing loneliness. They may be specially equipped to deal with certain physical conditions or facilitate discussion surrounding end-of-life topics. Counselling for the elderly may also place a greater emphasis on social work-type topics to ensure that geriatric clients have access to necessary resources, such as food, a safe home environment, and healthcare.

How can therapy improve the quality of life of aging individuals?
Therapy for aging adults can greatly improve quality of life by providing an opportunity for them to process difficult emotions related to end-of-life, navigate relational or caregiver challenges, and develop coping skills for common mental health conditions, like anxiety or depression. Subsequent reductions in negative emotions and mental health disorder symptoms can make day-to-day living much more manageable for aging adults and those that care for them. The ongoing relationship with a trusted therapist can also help seniors combat loneliness and provide a sense of structure for their routine.

What are the qualities to look for in therapists who see seniors?
Seniors counsellors, like mental health counselors in general, should be kind, empathetic, skilled at listening, and knowledgeable about their particular area of expertise. Counsellors specialising in working with the senior population should be very familiar with the aging process in general and the common conditions that the elderly can face, such as dementia, depression, loneliness, and/or physical illness. Many senior counsellors are also well-equipped to help caregivers and families navigate the aging process of their loved ones, and they may draw on Interpersonal Therapy to help facilitate improved interactions between seniors and those that care for them.
