Hello, and thank you for reading my profile. Are you looking for long-term, in-depth, psychotherapy? Or do you have a particular issue you need to explore in counselling? Perhaps you're a qualified practitioner looking for a clinical supervisor. I could be that person for you, if we find we are a good fit. Whichever best describes you, my work is underpinned with an understanding of spirituality as a personal jorney into the nature of suffering. I think of spirituality as a pathway to self-development. Specifically, I work with mindfulness and Buddhist psychology to explore your current state of being, in mind, body and spirit.

Therapy is an opportunity to do a deep dive into the hopes, fears, frustrations and uncertainties that stand in the way of your personal contentment. Issues like anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and self-destructive behaviour make it hard to manage your emotions at home or stress at work. Friendships and relationships suffer, Often there is an underlying trauma - a deep pain - that needs to be processed safely. Life's inevitable changes - career, money, children, ageing, health - bring their own challenges. Whatever's happening in your world, my aim as a therapist is to help you move forward.

Drawing on my personal and professional background, I offer affirming and inclusive therapy both online and face-to-face in Headington and Summertown. I work primarily with autistic and ADHD clients experiencing a wide range of issues, including trauma, relationship difficulties, anxiety, low mood, procrastination, perfectionism, disordered eating, and difficulties regulating emotions. Are you someone who holds a lot together on the outside — but inside, it doesn’t feel how you think it should? Maybe you’re managing day-to-day life — working, caring for others, showing up — while internally feeling anxious, low in mood, burnt out, or disconnected from yourself. There can be a sense of feeling lost, unsure who you are, or struggling with low self-worth, even if others see you as capable. You may find yourself stuck in patterns like people-pleasing, overthinking, or being hard on yourself. I can support you to move from self-criticism towards greater self-understanding and compassion.

I work with individuals who want to understand and change deep emotional and relational patterns, especially where trauma, shame, anxiety, self-abandonment, attachment wounds or painful relationship dynamics keep repeating. You may be asking yourself, “Can I be helped?” especially if you feel stuck, overwhelmed, carrying too much, or finding that childhood experiences still live in your body and responses. My approach is trauma-informed and draws on EMDR, somatic and attachment-based work. Together, we can look at relationship patterns, emotional overwhelm, boundaries, self-worth, intimacy, sexuality, and divorce.

My ideal client is an individual or a couple who are genuinely committed to looking inwards, keen to look at themselves and how they relate to the world around them. The therapy I am offering is ideal for those seeking an engaged therapeutic relationship with collaborative exploration rather than a one-side dialogue from the client. I'm queer, trans (they/them), and work with many LGBTQIA/ queer clients.
Conflicts often follow a familiar, repetitive pattern even though the content may change. In relationship therapy, we can identify the strategies that you're using in conflict, the needs you hope those strategies will meet, the ways in which those strategies might be counterproductive, and how you can do things differently. I offer Internal Family Systems informed therapy for partners and other pairs including siblings, friends, and family members. I welcome people in non-normative relationships such as queerplatonic relationships.

Maybe you’ve become really good at holding everything together: showing up for others, getting through the day, and appearing like you’re coping. But underneath, you feel exhausted, anxious, overwhelmed, or disconnected from yourself. Perhaps you’re struggling with thoughts that won’t quieten, difficult emotions that feel hard to understand, or experiences from the past that continue to affect how you see yourself and your relationships. Maybe you’re simply feeling stuck and unsure of what needs to change, but know that something doesn’t feel right.

Hi, I'm Chris, I'm a bit of a nerd who is into books, gaming, movies and TV shows. Being a therapist isn't just my job, it's something I genuinely love doing because I am hugely curious about people. I realised I had a true interest in people while I traveled and met people from different walks of life, cultures and spiritualities. I spend a lot of my time trying to learn and understand things, whether it's a new game, philosophical concept or how something works. In my role as a therapist I'm getting to know and understand you so that we can figure out how best to support you through what it is you are experiencing.

My approach is rooted in compassion, authenticity, and a deep understanding that healing is as much about reconnecting with yourself as it is about addressing the wounds you’ve endured. Where relevant I can help you to understand the source of your core pain, which acknowledges and honours the struggles you have already endured while identifying the strengths you have developed to adapt and survive. Where some of these adaptations have become unhelpful, I work with you to discover healthy coping mechanisms and tools moving forward.

LGBTQ+ Counsellors
Do LGBTQ-affirmative therapists receive special training?
Yes. Many therapists who practice LGBTQ-affirmative therapy have completed specialised training, either during their degree programme or as continuing education, to learn the core principles of affirmative therapy and how to best support their LGBTQ clients; some have received certifications in LGBTQ-affirmative therapy. Prospective clients should inquire as to a clinician’s background and training to ensure a good fit.

Why might I want to see an LGBTQ-affirming or LGBTQ-friendly therapist?
Queer and gender-non-conforming individuals frequently experience bias and marginalisation in day-to-day life. Working with a therapist who understands these unique challenges, as well as accepts and affirms their identity, can help LGBTQ clients feel safe and supported during therapy—allowing them to better navigate their relationships, mental health, and anything else that they wish to explore during therapy. It is important to note that many therapists can be effective in their work with LGBTQ+ individuals, even in the absence of specific training or background knowledge. The most important component in therapy is the alliance between therapist and client, and this alliance can exist between individuals with very different backgrounds.

How can I find an LGBTQ-friendly therapist?
You may wish to inquire about a therapist’s expertise with your specific challenges or concerns—depression, for example, or relationship strife—as well as their past experiences treating LGBTQ+ clients. Prospective clients may also ask whether a therapist has obtained additional training and/or certification in LGBTQ-affirmative techniques.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience with LGBTQ issues?
Prospective clients should feel empowered to directly ask therapists whether they have received training or been certified in LGBTQ-affirming therapy; competent therapists will be happy to explain their educational background and preferred approach(es) to help a client find the best match for them. Clients may also wish to ask how a therapist has treated clients with their particular challenges in the past and what they expect treatment to look like.

Are all the therapists listed in the LGBTQ directory themselves members of the LGBTQ community?
While therapists may choose to disclose their sexual orientation or gender identity in their profiles, the LGBTQ directory features not only those who have shared this information but also those who assert specialised training or experience in providing support to queer individuals, couples or families.
