Starting therapy can feel daunting, especially if you’re navigating a life transition, coping with emotional distress, or seeking greater self-understanding. You may be experiencing low mood, anxiety, relationship difficulties, questions around identity, loss, or finding yourself caught in repeating patterns. Many people come to therapy wanting to better understand their relationship with themselves and with others, and how these patterns affect their lives. Therapy can offer a supportive space to reflect, develop insight, and build a greater sense of agency in how you move forward.

You love God, but something still feels heavy. You struggle with self-doubt, shame, or a quiet sense of “never enough.” Relationships feel anxious or distant, and you long to feel secure with people and with God. Perhaps you serve faithfully yet feel disconnected inside. You want to trust more freely, rest without guilt, and live from a place of rooted worth rather than survival. You’re not broken — you’re carrying patterns shaped by early experiences, and you’re ready for healing.

My approach is integrative and relational, drawing on psychodynamic, somatic, parts-based and evidence-based cognitive and exposure-based approaches as the work requires.
I am a registered integrative psychotherapist and occupational therapist with over fifteen years across the NHS, The Priory, private practice and corporate settings. I am registered with UKCP/BACP for psychotherapy and HCPC for occupational therapy, and I work with most major UK insurance providers including BUPA, Aviva, Vitality and WPA. I work with adults who have done some of the obvious work and have reached the harder, less obvious layer underneath. People who are not in crisis but are not where they want to be. People who have had insight without it producing change.

I draw upon the concepts of attachment theory, trauma-informed care, somatic work, neuroscience, and developmental psychology, ensuring my work is grounded in clinical research and practice.
Queer affirming integrative psychotherapy supporting young people of colour with overwhelm, anxiety, and finding a home within. It can be exhausting, trying to fit in. Feeling like you’re wearing a mask all the time. An emptiness inside, maybe. But in making the decision to start therapy, you are choosing yourself. Your wellbeing, your energy, and your heart over the dissatisfaction, melancholy, the repeated frustrations. Nothing will change unless something changes. And it can feel overwhelming to want to change, but there is something in you (no matter how small that part) that perhaps believes it could be better.

Somatic Counsellors
How does somatic therapy work?
Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?
Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?
Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
