I trained to be a counsellor as I was previously a mental health housing officer working with a variety of issues including self-harm, suicidal ideation and domestic violence but to name a few.
I'm Sam,Have you ever asked yourself why do I feel like this?,what's wrong with me?why can't I get out of bed in the morning? Then let me ask you some simple questions,What's having an impact on you and your life?,how do you move on? What can I do to help myself?Just having someone who you trust to talk it over with , someone who will listen , Not judge you is all you might need to offload .To be able to talk openly about everything that has either happened or is happening can be a welcome release.

Are you feeling in need of counselling support? Choosing the right counsellor to provide support is not always easy. Reading this information can help you make a decision on the best choice for you. Giving careful attention to both the medium of counselling being offered and the qualifications and experience of your chosen counsellor is an important factor in this process. Life events arise for everyone and leave us feeling unable to manage day to day life and relationships as effectively as we would hope. I provide counselling to help clients achieve resolution of these difficulties in a safe and non-judgemental therapeutic space

I work with older children (12+) and adults. I have experience of working with stress, anxiety, chronic pain, depression, domestic abuse, relationships, sexuality, grief/loss, behavioural issues and addiction/alcoholism. I have also recently worked voluntarily for two charities counselling young people affected by domestic abuse, and with people in addiction recovery. I work with a person centred foundation, therefore sessions are led by the clients needs as an individual. We work together to find the best way forward. The therapeutic relationship is of utmost importance.

There are a variety of reasons why people come to counselling or psychotherapy. We all throughout our lives face difficult and challenging times and for some having additional support is all that is needed. I offer a safe place for you to unburden those concerns, voice your fears, anger, or frustration, at your own pace in a confidential, non-judgemental, and relaxed environment. My aim is to help you make sense of your feelings and help you move on in your life. The thought of having therapy can feel a bit daunting at first, fear of the unknown, but it is the first step to moving forward on your journey. One step at a time!

Amongst other things, I support adults with anxiety, grief, lack of self confidence, meaning in life and suicidal risk.
At times life can become too much, you may be struggling and feeling stuck, not knowing which way to turn. You may chose to explore relationships, patterns of behaviour and influences from the past or present. Choices made due to abuse, trauma or any other issues may be holding you back from your true potential. Either way, we can work towards seeking greater understanding of your unique problems in a non-judgemental curious way.

Has something turned your world upside down? Do you feel lost? It’s common for everyone to experience bumps in the road of life; but what happens when you just don’t know how to deal with those bumps? Perhaps you talk to family, friends or colleagues, maybe you just keep it all in, cross your fingers and hope for the best. Talking things over is known to help, especially when you are really listened to by someone who doesn’t judge you or tell you what to do, all in confidence. You might not realise it yet, but you are the expert on your own life and counselling can give you the keys to unlock that expertise.

Hi, how are you? Are you feeling stressed, perhaps a little depressed/low mood, or suffering with low self esteem, fear or issues such as anxiety ( including generalised anxiety disorder) anger? Panic attacks, self-harming, it might be that life has been just difficult to manage: relationships, childhood trauma, bereavement. If any of this sounds familiar, I might be able to help.

As a psychodynamic counsellor and hypnotherapist, my approach to working with clients is rooted in psychodynamic theory, which emphasises the exploration of unconscious processes and the influence of past experiences on a person's current thoughts, feelings, and actions. Here's a general outline of how I work with my clients: I shall meet with you, listen to you and together with you establish our therapeutic relationship.A safe and trusting working relationship. Once we have this we shall be ready to start exploring deep and often sensitive issues. I shall help you explore your unconscious thoughts, feelings, and conflicts.

Counselling allows you the space to explore your feelings, discomforts, confusion and anxieties. Life can be stressful and overwhelming, sometimes it is difficult to reach out for help. Whatever you are experiencing, by searching for a counsellor you have taken the first step towards investing in yourself. My approach to counselling is integrative, this means that I use different approaches and techniques to meet your needs. Alongside counselling, my previous work has included working with individuals with different learning disabilities, mental health needs and chronic illness.

Hi, I'm Sharon and I'm a qualified psychotherapist and hypnotist. I have created a very bespoke therapy room in my garden which provides a calming and confidential atmosphere ensuring that clients feel they can be who they are, and share their thoughts, feelings and express themself in whatever way they need to in this safe space. I work with all sorts of different issues and problems - treating each person as a unique individual, whilst also trying to tap in to theory and learning from my work where it will help each of my clients. I really aim to offer non-judgment, listening and understanding, as well as new perspectives and tools to take away. I challenge my clients unhealthy, unkind views of themselves or behaviours, but trust their own innate self-knowledge too. The process can be distressing, but I'll be beside you. With time and patience real understanding of self and others can happen, and help you lead a happier, healthier life.

I have experience working with adults and young people, who have come to me with a variety of issues including anxiety, anger, depression, self-harm, suicidal thoughts and spiritual crises. I am also comfortable working with trauma. Through working with me, my clients have brought about significant and sustained change in their lives. I have many years of experience working with young people and adults from a variety of backgrounds, ethnicities, sexualities, genders and all faiths and none. I sometimes create music in sessions to allow my clients to process emotions and experiences that have been long buried.

This can help us learn more about who you are and most importantly, how you can find more happiness and contentment in your life. I'll be by your side as we dig deeper into understanding yourself and figuring out what's getting in the way of your goals and dreams. I've helped many people dealing with prolonged anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, OCD, low self-esteem, disordered eating, feelings of self harm and suicide and with a focus on past trauma amongst other presentations.

I have worked sucessfully to relieve a range of issues including anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, eating issues and relationship problems amongst others.
If you've got problems, I can help.. As a therapist I am happiest when I am genuinely able to make a difference to someone and help them feel better. I have had a great deal of experience of working with many different people, each one of them with their own unique story, and their own way of seeing the world, each one of them also with the problems that sometimes arise for all of us as human beings trying to live the best we can. Maybe you feel anxious and don't know why? Perhaps you've had things happen that are still affecting you?

This may include feeling suicidal.
The type of therapy I offer is a place where you can express yourself without judgement. Each person often has their own unique key to what they need, and I am committed to really listening and finding what that might be for you. From my perspective as a therapist, although we can't change our past, having the right kinds of support can help us look forward and put us back in the driving seat. In our first session, I offer a warm, honest, and open conversation for you to freely express where you are and what you hope for. We can explore any questions you might have about the therapy process and get to know each other.

I specialise in male psychology, understanding that men face particular challenges and process things differently from women. I support men and women in addiction recovery, those in suicidal crisis and other distress such as trauma, bereavement, OCD or panic attacks. I combine counselling theory with coaching skills, using several models which can be adapted to your individual needs. We work together and adjust the process as we go along. I can change how I work as your awareness develops and different issues come up. I can help you to refine your goals, learn new strategies, get free of old baggage, and create a path forward.

Suicidal Ideation Counsellors

How does therapy for suicidal ideation work?

Stress, depression, anxiety, or upsetting circumstances can give rise to suicidal thinking. Therapy can address the events at the core of an individual’s suffering. Understanding why a person may be suicidal can help the therapist and the patient discover alternative methods of coping. A person with suicidal ideation may be mired in catastrophic thinking, and treatment like cognitive behavioural therapy is a good choice for breaking such patterns. In addition, treatment such as acceptance and commitment therapy can help a person manage their distress through better emotion regulation.

Which therapies are best for suicidal ideation?

Specific approaches used by professionals include cognitive behavioural, dialectical behaviour, psychodynamic, acceptance and commitment therapies, among others. Cognitive behavioural and dialectical behaviour therapies are two widely used therapies that can help individuals with painful thoughts and past traumas. These therapies help an individual tolerate distress, regulate emotions, and not act on dangerous urges.

Are there specific medications to be combined with therapy?

The use of medication for suicidal thoughts must be aligned with the underlying cause; conditions such as depression, anxiety, and psychosis may be at the root of suicidal ideation. A psychiatrist may prescribe medications for symptoms, which may include antipsychotics such as aripiprazole or antidepressants such as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors.

How often and how long are therapy sessions for suicidal ideation?

As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual. Patients may see improvement within 15 to 20 sessions, at an average of 50 minutes per session, while others may opt for 20 to 30 sessions over, perhaps, a six-month period. Still other patients, especially those with co-occurring conditions like major depression and anxiety, may need to continue sessions for up to 12 to 18 months. In some cases, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm.
